yup, I have too many screen names

xfir

I would say no. But if the person is higher ranked and you beat them, then you get more credits.

j0

I think it would be a good idea.. it would be interesting to see the rankings.. even though Lev would most likely be on top.

plymoth45

I have a sujestion for a quiz, but i'll have to type it up because it is on my little quiz paper lol.

CK9

I think Paco is above lev.  He get's his army up a bit faster.

Whats the difference betwen points and Credits

xfir

Points are Credits.. its just that some parts of the Modification did not fully implement the entire "Change 'POINTS' to $currency_type" thing.

alice

That sound's like a good Idea! I just wouldn't have any points... lol. How would we submit our wins/losses?

Ooh. De ja vue...

Betaray

I think garett and knux should get a million points for when they finish op3
I am the nincompoop, I eat atomic bombs for breakfest, fusion bombs for lunch, and anti-matter bombs for dinner

I just hope they don't explode

xfir

Would that encourage them to finish?

If so, I'll go for it.. if not, then, well, who cares? I'll go for it!

You would submit the game via a forum page. I would then make the script send a PM to the person you fought (if they are registered here) making them confirm the win or loss. If they agree then it goes through, otherwise I (or another admin) will have to review it.

Luweeg64

Well in that case who wants to battle......as soon as I'm done with Counter Strike!

alice

That sounds Great!!! What about Multiplayer???

(BTW, 1,000,000 credits sounds interesting...  :P )

Betaray

better get cracking

LOL You said crack, 1,000,000 credits YAY I'm in the MONEY!

alice

What?  oh well.  I don't care about the points, but I wouldn't mind.  :P

Also,  I could write a VB program so you can submit the wins and losses.

CK9

how about this:  in every game that is less than 6 players, a ref joins and is just there to see who wins.  He is allied with all players, and all players are allied with him.

Why because the honor system can't be trusted...or is it me you don't trust?

CK9

when it comes down to it, people cannot be trusted.  The honor system is good, but only untill you get the first person trying to use it to scam.

Which would probably be me....how bout we use the buddy system!

alice

I like the ref Idea.  One thing that sierra left out of OP2 was Spectator mode.  BTW, who would be the ref?  One would have to be present for every game.

QuoteI could write a VB program so you can submit the wins and losses.
Well, remember I'm doing the winsock replacement project.

If I remember maybe I could make an addin for it to have it automatically submit it (then there would be no user errors/cheating possible)

alice

Does OP2 support DDE?  If so, what kind of calls.  If they are the right game, that would be able to make it REALLY easy to make it work without User Intervention.

True.. but we have to make sure the users use the same address on the program as they do on the forums..

BlackBox

Nope, it doesn't support DDE.

The only way the developers expected for external programs to control it was for WON, and that was with the DLL calls.

So the only other way to control OP2 is by manipulating the windows by generating messages (using SendMessage)

Another *really* good way to do it would be to subclass the window and control it with your own WndProc.

Well, there is a slight enhancement that the developers put in that I found, almost by accident:

You can launch the "SIGS" button/operation from the command line, or show the multiplayer window from the commandline.

To do SIGS/WON/whatever is configured in the DLL's:
x:\path\outpost2.exe /net:sigs

To just automatically show the Multiplayer window:
x:\path\outpost2.exe /net

I've tried stuff like /net:tcpip and /net:ipx, it doesn't work. Those are the only 2 know combinations that work.

There sould be more Increse Interest things at the store....

All in favour say I.
