Title: IBStore
Post by: xfir on January 18, 2004, 11:22:44 AM
IBStore rewards you for psoting here... so to speak.

With each post, you gain credits. With these credits, you can "purchase" items. These items give you either special effects (like name effects) or abilities, like uploading an emoticon.

Currently, here are the various ways to gain credits:

Register: 10 credits
Post a new topic: 5 credits
Post a new poll: 5 credits
Post a reply: 5 credits
Shout: 1 credit

Test forum = 0 for all

Note that these can change by forum, but I will be sure you update you should they change.

I get it. But do any of the posts that I have already made been counted or only for posts after the mod was installed?

Everyone starts at zero.

What other kind of items are going to add to the IBStor xfir?
Title: IBStore

I may add such items as:

Change your Username
Close or Open your own topics
Pin your own topics

There are no bugs with this store set up are there ,is this the finished setup?

Technically, nothing is completely bug free.

But I have a good faith that this will work.

What if this starts a slew of just posting for the credits can you take away that persons credits or topics or replies?
Title: IBStore
Post by: xfir on January 18, 2004, 11:56:44 AM
Yes. I can also prevent them from posting. I may also make a mod that prevents them from even gaining credits at all.
Title: IBStore
Post by: Oprime on January 18, 2004, 12:15:44 PM
Xfir you can just think about this way the forum will be more active because of the IBstore. You can get more members joining and posting. But for Leviathan, Plymoth45, and me we'll get more people to play with.
Title: IBStore
Post by: xfir on January 18, 2004, 12:17:08 PM
Yea.. it is a good idea..

One good thing is that you cannot create items that do not have a script backing them.. say a Thor's Hammer Rifle.
Title: IBStore
Post by: Leviathan on January 18, 2004, 12:21:30 PM
yea we need more people 2 play with.
people should get credits for playing games of op2, playing games is keeping the game alive and the gaming community active which is ultimately what we are trying 2 do with this forum.
Title: IBStore
Post by: plymoth45 on January 18, 2004, 03:35:11 PM
I like the idea of credits for playing games, we also should have that sort of thing for people making maps, and have how many credits for how well it is jugded by the players.
Title: IBStore
Post by: CK9 on January 18, 2004, 05:40:13 PM
We need to get into contact with as many of the players as possible.

Hey xfir.  I like your idea. Who knows maybe the forum will hit 200 members. (Still hoping) You'll just have to keep an eye out for spammers.
Title: IBStore
Post by: CK9 on January 18, 2004, 06:10:16 PM
eveyone has the potential to be a spammer.  We're just lucky that x is the head admin.
Title: IBStore
Post by: plymoth45 on January 18, 2004, 07:47:07 PM
Yes, we are very lucky. When i saw this credit thing, i had an craving to spam, but thought against it.
Title: IBStore
Post by: CK9 on January 18, 2004, 07:53:44 PM
As long as x is here, spamming will remain little to none
Title: IBStore

Title: IBStore
Post by: xfir on January 19, 2004, 07:53:50 PM
Okay then.

This is an official annoucement concerning the IBStore:

If a post does not contain any useful information or contains fewer than 10 words, I will delete it and fine the member.

If that member has purchased an item, I will remove the item.

There is NO point to the mod if all you are going to do it spam.
Title: IBStore
Post by: CK9 on January 20, 2004, 08:48:44 AM
so let's see...

even if you elaborate and it is still under 10 words, it still gets deleated?
Title: IBStore
Post by: Leviathan on January 20, 2004, 08:52:58 AM
ok i argree 2 that if when u go2 post reply u get a warning telling you that your post is under 10 words.
Title: IBStore
Post by: CK9 on January 20, 2004, 08:56:06 AM
I still do not see how that is fair.

I could have posted just that, but it was only 9 words.  :P
Title: IBStore
Post by: Oprime on January 20, 2004, 12:57:03 PM
 I posted some stuff that might be shorter then 10 words.  Even if what I posted is on topic would I still get a fine ? I don't like nether getting a parking ticket nor a posting ticket ( :( posting tickets could be worse)
Title: IBStore
Post by: Betaray on January 20, 2004, 05:00:23 PM

Title: IBStore

What about posts that were made before this mod was in place?
Title: IBStore
Post by: xfir on January 20, 2004, 06:36:34 PM
Okay: A ruling on that: I overreacted. I was mad about how you were abusing the IBStore by posting absolutely useless posts (otherwise known as spam).

You can have under ten words so long as it relates DIRECTLY to the topic.
Title: IBStore
Post by: CK9 on January 20, 2004, 06:42:07 PM
That seems a bit directed at me x.  Am I overreacting?
Title: IBStore
Post by: xfir on January 20, 2004, 06:49:36 PM
It wasn't directed at anyone. It was a general ruling. I'm just trying to prevent a huge spam spree by certain members (ahem).
Title: IBStore
Post by: plymoth45 on January 20, 2004, 06:52:20 PM
ok, i can live with that, the 10 word thing was making me reluctant to post, even though i do post directly to the topic. (occasionaly i don't)
Title: IBStore

Title: IBStore
Post by: Betaray on January 20, 2004, 09:15:15 PM
well I think its just a new thing, people want credits, so the first day thats what happond, now were used to the system, so spamming will die down

Or is it a test or password protection, and one more thing, why is the won developement topic password protected?

It is a link to a modification to IBstore that let's users create shops.
No, it is not an alternate reality.
No, banned and/or fined members do not go there to post. That link isn't even related to my site or this forum.
It is a test account for people to view the board.
The WON development forum is password protected by op2hacker.

Ok... The won development forum might as well be deleted...... There's not much in there.

(I'm going to delete it right now)

Thre real point here... is we don't want useless posts.

If they relate to the topic it's ok.

Like I was telling the moderators, we aren't going to delete posts on the basis of 10 words or whatever, but if it consists of nothing more than "Lol" or something irrelevant, then yes it will be deleted.

Invision Board.

A new test? You mean quiz?

Should I make it harder or easier?
Title: IBStore
Post by: Luweeg64 on January 21, 2004, 06:43:01 PM
well, it has to be hard enought that you need to know a little bit about OP2 and yes a new one every week or so would be nice, just to help the IBStore's economy

Last time I tell you:

EDIT BUTTON!

And like I told CK: It wasn't directed at anyone. It was a general ruling.

Tell ya what, I'll redescribe my clan idea.

I could create an item. This item will create a forum and user group.

This user group will be the only ones other than admin (possibly GMs) that can access the forum, so in a way its a private forum.

Now, this item would be on the expensive side, and in order to join the clan, you would have to build up credits to buy a "Join Clan" item.

In effect, we could add a clan-based system to the forum..

Developing upon that idea, I could also make a sort of reporting system (similiar to the ladder system that was both buggy and incomplete) to award credits based on the player's win/loss record.
Title: IBStore
Post by: CK9 on January 21, 2004, 09:43:05 PM
if we lose, do we lose credits?
Title: IBStore
Post by: xfir on January 21, 2004, 09:44:55 PM
I would say no. But if the person is higher ranked and you beat them, then you get more credits.
Title: IBStore
Post by: j0 on January 21, 2004, 09:48:52 PM
I think it would be a good idea.. it would be interesting to see the rankings.. even though Lev would most likely be on top.

Title: IBStore
Post by: xfir on February 02, 2004, 11:39:09 PM
Points are Credits.. its just that some parts of the Modification did not fully implement the entire "Change 'POINTS' to $currency_type" thing.
Title: IBStore
Post by: gpgarrettboast on February 03, 2004, 04:32:12 PM
That sound's like a good Idea! I just wouldn't have any points... lol. How would we submit our wins/losses?

Ooh. De ja vue...
Title: IBStore
Post by: Betaray on February 03, 2004, 06:52:00 PM
I think garett and knux should get a million points for when they finish op3
Title: IBStore
Post by: xfir on February 03, 2004, 06:54:47 PM
Would that encourage them to finish?

If so, I'll go for it.. if not, then, well, who cares? I'll go for it!

You would submit the game via a forum page. I would then make the script send a PM to the person you fought (if they are registered here) making them confirm the win or loss. If they agree then it goes through, otherwise I (or another admin) will have to review it.

Also,  I could write a VB program so you can submit the wins and losses.
Title: IBStore
Post by: CK9 on February 09, 2004, 03:34:54 PM

If I remember maybe I could make an addin for it to have it automatically submit it (then there would be no user errors/cheating possible)

Does OP2 support DDE?  If so, what kind of calls.  If they are the right game, that would be able to make it REALLY easy to make it work without User Intervention.

True.. but we have to make sure the users use the same address on the program as they do on the forums..
Title: IBStore
Post by: BlackBox on February 10, 2004, 03:12:55 PM
Nope, it doesn't support DDE.

The only way the developers expected for external programs to control it was for WON, and that was with the DLL calls.

So the only other way to control OP2 is by manipulating the windows by generating messages (using SendMessage)

Another *really* good way to do it would be to subclass the window and control it with your own WndProc.

Well, there is a slight enhancement that the developers put in that I found, almost by accident:

You can launch the "SIGS" button/operation from the command line, or show the multiplayer window from the commandline.

To do SIGS/WON/whatever is configured in the DLL's:
x:\path\outpost2.exe /net:sigs

To just automatically show the Multiplayer window:
x:\path\outpost2.exe /net

I've tried stuff like /net:tcpip and /net:ipx, it doesn't work. Those are the only 2 know combinations that work.

Instead of taking time to delete your posts and seeing as how you have basically deposited your money anyway, I have subtracted the amount of spam you guys rounded up through this post from your bank money.

Also, consider that I had to do that, I also subtracted a fee.

Now, return to the topic before I disable the store.

Is there a comprehensive summary of the IBStore's functions?

I wonder what's the use of Interest or how the bank works.
Title: IBStore
Post by: ZeusBD on April 01, 2004, 12:58:08 PM
The money that you have stored in the bank gain's interest. Where you deposite it it tells you a) how much interest % your getting, b ) how much interest you getting at the moment and c) how much money you currently have in the bank.

The smart thing to do when your just starting out is to put all of your money in the bank so that you can buy stuff more often. When you get up to say CK9's level, you'll pretty much have enough to buy out the store and it really is a personal preference to have money in the bank or not. There is no downside really.

Note: You have to withdraw money to buy item's.

You can collect interest on the money that is currently in the bank every 2 days.

Plz don't exaggerate. There's no need for the screen capture.

Post by: ZeusBD on April 02, 2004, 10:09:18 AM
Too less usually means that there are some, just not enough. Either way, I wanted the capture the screen just incase there was a problem and you had something different.

And we were talking about right now.

As everyone else here, and at all the other forums, has pointed out to me soo many times, I have problems with spelling. (type and post, never check over spelling) So I am bound to mix up to letters sometime.

as for the other comment, I was talking about how you mentiond so many times that I cannot increase my interest because there were no more of that item.  It's all about the wording.

To Get back on topic..

When Exactly does the store get restocked?

Is there an auto-restock mod active?

Or is it restocked when X feels like it?

Title: IBStore
Post by: ZeusBD on April 02, 2004, 12:24:54 PM
Supposedly it's on restock. But either the stuff gets bought up before I see it, or it's whenever X feels like it.

no, I wasn't ever the richest person.  I was #1 poster when x installed the IBStore moduel.  I was the 3rd richest several times.

right now my interest is up to 46%, but it would be higher if I didn't buy the other items.

I had 100% interest.. and well, exceeded the BIGINT limit, as set by MySQL.

Then, for fun, I decided to do this:

Also, since I think CK9 was asking:
Quote
BIGINT[(M)] [UNSIGNED] [ZEROFILL]
A large integer. The signed range is -9223372036854775808 to 9223372036854775807. The unsigned range is 0 to 18446744073709551615.

Quote
INT[(M)] [UNSIGNED] [ZEROFILL]
A normal-size integer. The signed range is -2147483648 to 2147483647. The unsigned range is 0 to 4294967295.

We used Signed BIGINTs for deposited and Signed INTs for on hand.

If you want to have higher numbers use doubles, text or blobs to store numeric info.... the string way of storing stuff is nasty nasty but it can be done...

(use the serialize() and unserialize() functions)

If you have invision boards, then go to www.invisionize.com (http://www.invisionize.com) and download all the mods you want. Do a search within the mods section for store and get the one from Outlaw (IBStore).

We aren't aloud to redistribute them ourselves (it's in the agreement), so you'll have to go there yourself and get it. They also have the army system, the arcade, a pet system, Lottery/Raffle, and about anything else you need.

I see that you have invisionfree boards (Though it is version 1.3, it is version 1.3g...which from what I've heard is something that invisionfree uses and prevents the mods from working). I don't think that any of the mods will work on your boards. They have mods for the free boards that you can get at www.invisionboard.com (http://www.invisionboard.com) (They just released v2.0).

Post by: ZeusBD on August 16, 2004, 12:42:12 AM
ahh...I didn't see that. Hey, in your upgrade to IPBv2.0, your going to have to upgrade the store to v3.0 or to v3.2 about to come out since 2.5 or 2.8 don't work on v2.0 of the boards...so when do you plan on this happening?
Title: IBStore
Post by: xfir on August 16, 2004, 12:46:13 AM
I plan to mod the newer boards when Version 2 goes final. I may also make my own store mod, because as it is, the current IBStore relies on an external PHP script to add items (something the author did to track usage.. I think its a security risk).

Tables are where MySQL saves all it data (users, posts, passwords, credits, e-mail addresses, and everything else that needs to be stored) and if you have a problem with IBStore, you could back up the table and reinstall it and then put back the table and it would be right back to where it was before. If he makes his own store, he'd either have to make it capable of reading that table or manually put in the credits one by one in the table for his store.

As is it now, the current storage of credits (and what not) is very easy to access and use. Both your on-hand and deposited credits are stored in the database using an interger format (BIGINT for deposited, INT for on-hand). Thus it would only take a simple query to retrieve that data:

Code: [Select]
mysql> SELECT points, deposited FROM inv_members WHERE id='$ibforums['id']';
Or similiar to that anyway.

Really, in any sense, they are more or less useless. They don't serve any point being anywhere in this forum. All they really did was encourage spam. Several times I thought about removing them due to the increased spam load but never got around to it. I do not know if it will be in the next version of this forum. In the most likely scenario, it will, because people would complain and whatnot.

I enjoy having a store, but it is not needed. What about name effects and crap like that, will people still be able to get them? I know that you could add it without the store....*light bulb goes off* why not just make the different name effect's settable in the UCP. User's could just set there stuff anytime they wanted. This would totally make the store useless.
