In my HOME computer, I have a ATI Graphics by RAGE 128
In my grandmothers, I have a chip-set

Post what you guys use, what you think anyone else should upgrade to, or what your favorite graphics card manufacturer, or model, is!

RAGE 128? Wow, thats old school. I myself got a 9800gtx+, and I'm thinking about upgrading. I recommend you upgrade your entire system. Thou this is CAD prices (so it will be a bit more in USD), it only costs about $300 for a brand new system, and $500 for a system that can run anything (not on high... but can just run it). For graphics cards alone, ATI and nVidia are the giants. a decent card would be something like a nVidia 250/350, or and ATI 5700, and high end would be nVidia 480/580 and ATI 6800.

I assume you have another computer besides this? The Rage 128 is probably at least 12-13 years old so I can't even begin to imagine what other components that computer must contain.

I have a couple of computers kicking around, the one in my living room that I normally use for video games and with my home theater system has an nVidia GTX465, 1gb of video memory. The other computer has an ATI HD 4650 (512mb I think)

I'm not really in either the ATI or nVidia camp, nor am I in the intel vs AMD camp (I have both types of systems and the primary reason I bought one or the other was because there were massive rebates at the time of buying the hardware for one of the two).

Hoping to get a new laptop (Which, btw, I despise) that has some WAY BETTER stats. I still MUCH prefer a Desktop, as they don't over heat. Either make laptops cooler/ able to overclock, or make Desktop components lighter.

Current comp (home): 548 megahertz processor, 512megs ram, and I don't even want to know about the rest...

I'm not exactly sure why you would want to OC any laptop parts, the coolers are not very good to begin.. and desktops can absolutely overheat if you have an improper cooler or don't apply thermal grease properly.

Why are you still using a computer that old?

My friend bought the Asus G73sw-a1 (why? IDK...). He's *able* to overclock it, but I don't know how much. But at $1800, you better be able to overclock it

I have a whole heap of cards and computers. I still own a apple IIE and a performa 550. smallest vid card is unknown but it is a ISA slot so it is probably smaller then 512k. I myself have 2 nvidia rage 128s laying about a 4meg sis a radeon 8500 and radeon 9000 a radeon 2600hd a S3 verge 2 meg I think. a couple of off brands that cant be identified unless plugged in mostly pci. Among my heaps of trash there are sorts of wonderment. 286 386 486 p1 p2 p3 p4 celerons a couple cyrix mother boards with no pci slots all ISA. oh ya Add slot 1 processors in there as well as AMDs of various sizes. The infamous OPU-Bot was one of the amds with a scsi hdd. by the way i still have the opu bot on a hdd.

then there are the trophies. Things i kept to teach the other computers lessons. the micro atx that refused to function after running fine for years. it was shot beat run over and then run in the dish washer. the magnets of hard drives the very heart of the hdd.

1800 on a vid card i would slap the taste out of his mouth. save that money and get a life because if you need to buy s*** liek that for your computer i know there [playing games obsessively.

@ BlackBox: I'm using it because It's the first computer I've ever had, and It's the only one I have at the moment that I'm allowed to use.

My mother has a "new" Comp that is running vista, but I can only use that to print stuff.

I just use this for FIRST stuff and gaming. Mostly gaming, so I want a DECENT graphics chip-set :/ I wish laptops were much better at having interchangeable components, not chip-sets.

You can get some high end stuff in laptops, like the GeFroce 460m, or the ATI 5780.

ATI Readon/ Raedon (I can't remember how it's spelled off the top of my head) was in the older laptop that I used.

Not bad, I mean, I could play a bunch of games without worrying so

for what you pay for a laptop you can usually get a better desktop. you pay alot for that miniturization and portablity. tho i would rather have laptops then desktops any day.

I dislike laptops... I don't like how little power they put into them.

Of course, I could get a Toughbook. Ni-on indestructible, and designed with U.S. Military specs. Of course, I don't have 6+K to spend on a laptop. I want to save that for a car, not a gaming console.

those tough books arent gaming laptops at all they are designed for field work so they aint that high tech just super robust. I have a HP mini 311 its perfect i can play Eve online with a decent graphics setting. So they have plenty of power for a laptop that only would have cost me 500 usd. right now i could go to walmart or one of the office supply places and pick up a decent machine for 3 to 4 hundred usd.

You should upgrade this because its a old driver and its need good updation this will be good for your Technical Support (link removed) and you will get good performance.
