Outpost: Renegades (mission pack 1) is finally on the shelves!

It took over a year to build these 4 missions (give or take a month vacation between the seperate missions), but it's finally done. The package include 4 single-player missions in a campaign-type game. Renegades introduces a new perspective to Outpost 2: it remembers "what you did last summer" ... you'll figure it out what that means. Suffice to say: any action you take now, could have effect on the game flow in later missions!

The AI with these 4 missions is somewhat smarter then the average AI you can find on the Divided Destiny campaign, but still... it remains a computer program, not a real Artificial Intelligence.

I know the missions can still have bugs in them, but i've tested them thoroughly the past weeks and even found a serious bug only days before the release. Just send in bug reports when you find something: renegades@eddy-b.com

I didn't make this project all by myself; a lot of other people helped in smaller or larger parts of the Renegades' missions. They are all listed on the regenades website.

Nice site too Eddy.

I'm definitely looking forward to playing. Everyone, please thank Eddy for all his hard work, alongside his dedicated staff who have certianly put together a masterpiece deserving OP2 Legend... The first offical single player misson set since Sierra, if I'm not mistaken. This is a legendary and historic moment.

Great work Eddy-B. You worked for quite some time lol,  and finally, we will get to see how amazing this will be =) . I'm excited to get started with it...

Several people have identified bugs/crashes with mission 3 still.
Arklon in particular send me a bug report with some useful information. I tracked down the function where the problem occured - apparently i assigned a wrong type in that function, and MSVC didn't think it necessary to warn me about this.. go figure!

anyway: the thing is - when i recompile the mission, any saved game that was made with the "old" mission 3 will probly crash op2 bigtime. So: if you still have a mis3 save use that to get mission 3 going again.

I get this error when Installing:

it just means you HAVE that file already - AND it's in use at the time of installation.

The renegades setup is configured to replace MSVCRT.dll if you have an older version, then the one inside the setup. So in this case you prolly DO have an older version, and since you're using the DLL it can't be replaced.

I take no responsibility on this one: the first page sugguests you close ALL applications before installing Renegades
(i always wondered why that's included in setups -- i guess i now know!)

Here are two small bugs:

1. The first wave of renforcements in mission two are announced twice.

2. There is a stray impassible tile at (93, 108) in mission 3.

Here is another:

When you play mission 3, the plymouth AI rebuilds the evac transport once it is trasfered to you.

Also, when I win mission 3, the game crashes. It might be because I ignored that installation thing you mentioned earlier. My op2 1.3.3 exe also crashes on start now.

Edit: I fixed the crashing error by deleting renegades.

ok, I messed up. It is impassable. And I just noticed countless tiles with wrong Cell Types. I'm gonna correct this when I got some spare time. Since this isn't a bug that effects playability, I won't hurry too much.

I tried to install renegades again and try to close what ever was causing that file error. I closed everything that was running on my computer except explorer and the error still came up. It seems to work fine without it though....

that is a serious bug i been working on this past week. There was a problem with the evac coming in. And if there's NO evac coming in you can't possibly win the mission, coz it's an objective..
So i added code that would make SURE there's always a nevac.. i gues it still back-fires to me  :(

Nah,, the 2 patches so far are for ingame music & the crashes when a demo is about to start.

This may be related to the evac problem. I'll look into it: it's not a common problem, coz i've had people play upto mission 4 without problems. This is also because my AI is somewhat adaptive, specially in mission 3, and doesn't always do the same things.

Here's another small bug, when I deconned my cc in mission 1, the game crashed after displaying the loosing message.

I'm also using this with 1.3.3 if it makes a difference.

Mission 4

Loose conditions

When the cargo truck carrying the wreckage is destroyed, there is no loose condition

When the panther appears from underneath the vech fact/ garage, my micros were able to destroy it, so the spider couldn't re-program it, so the objective to retunr it to evac point never happened.

I'm meant to ally with eden, so why do my micros shoot the eden vehicles (if my micros are idle)

I'm gonna have to recheck those victory/failure conditions then.
There are quite a lot in mission 4, and it took me a while to get it all sorted out.

[edit]  i checked them out in my code: all the conditions are present. i will check them in-game to see what happens.

[edit2] the eden "alliance" is a short-lived thing.. i mean they are still the enemy, somewhat. I thought long about what to do.. the way i have set it up now is that after the "alliance" has formed, eden will not attack the renegade units, but renegade WILL automaticly fire on eden units. I think i had that in there to test something.. it has been over 6 months since i worked on this mission, so i'll set it right again: your tanks will not fire on eden, unless specificly ordered to do so. The moment you fire on any eden tank, the alliance will be broken, and eden WILL defend itself immediately (that's the way it was suppose to work).

Hi. I have a small error with my version of Renegades, and I apologise in advance for the rather lengthy post. Anyways, it starts up ok, and I can even play the colony games (although I'm not sure if you're supposed to be able to do that through Renegades). Once I start the main campaign, the start up is ok (it even plays the level 1 video for plymouth since I downloaded those and have them in that folder too, though I'm not sure if you intended that either). However, whenever I go to click "start mission" for mission 1, Renegades shuts down. You think maybe you can diagnose (sp error) this error for me? I'm running the 1.3.3 version of OP2, if that helps any.

hey Eddy?   any reason its so hard on mission three on setting Too easy?

the first time I tried it, I sent all of my units to the top and started building But all my people died before I got a Agridome even up.
The Second time I tried I built as close as I dared to the volcano, But again my people died before I got one up.
The third time I built near the mine but not too close, I got a colony running :D
But right before I had everything I needed to evac the Volcano came down on me, I escaped but I didn't have enough ore to continue the fight.
Now I know about the spot that does not get covered and I should be able to beat it with no problem now

But still!  on Too Easy?

okay yea so I am not as fast as some people  :P   but this is like speed drills for multiplayer   :blink:
