Count The F's
« on: November 22, 2005, 08:47:12 PM »
This is an interesting one. Read it only once. Don't go back and reread it, it's cheating.

How many F's are in the sentence:

Quote
FINISHED FILES ARE THE RE-
SULT OF YEARS OF SCIENTIF-
IC STUDY COMBINED WITH
THE EXPERIENCE OF YEARS.

Just reply with your answer.

And no peaking at peoples answers below when you do this.

Understand?!

Didn't you ask us this one before? Something similar to it anyways...
And I'll tell you it's three, though I could be and probably am lying.
A more appropriate answer is closer to 6.
I do believe 12 is out of the question though.

Now, here's MY question: How many prime numbers are in my post?

I've never asked this one before. And thanks for being so clear with your answer.

I'm gonna say one prime number if you count "three". That's not counting the "2" in "12" though. Interesting how you spelled out that number, but wrote the other ones down. I also see you spelled "one", but that one isn't prime anyways.

5 f's

but, the average person would say three, 'cause the human mind skipps the f in the word of for a reason I forget

now, without going back and counting, how many vowels did I use?

Lol, smartass questions.  <_< I don't exactly count vowels when I read.

I don't suppose you've gone back and recounted since you answered?  :D

there's 6 -- i've seen this before, and yes when you read it, your brain does not see all of them, it only finds thre. Even if you read it a second time, most people still see only three, because our brain skips the "of" word, as it is not needed  to understand the sentence.

good one

typical here - 3 on first read and 6 on subseqent word-by-word breakdown

very interesting, one of the many quirks of the human mind.

i got one a while ago which is full of massive amounts of typos; but you can still read and understand it. i belive it said that as long as the vowels in the word were the same or something of the sort yould be able to understand it, ill have to dig it up...
