G-Line: "G-Line" is a global ban system utilized by many networks. While a K-Line is written permanently into the ircd.conf file to block a host from connecting to a server, a G-Line is a temporary ban blocking a host from all of the servers on a network, usually set by an IRC operator utilizing a "network services bot".
K-Line: A K-line is a server ban. Every section of the IRC server program (ircd) is identified by a letter. M lines defines the motd, O lines recognize certain u@h's as server operators, etc. Written as: K::: K-lines specify hosts or IP addresses that are banned from using that one individual server. Users may still be able to connect to the IRC network using another server. K-lines are often set for abuse, but can be set for other reasons, for example, to direct users to a closer server. K-lines are permanent, until physically deleted by the server administrator or someone with access to the ircd.conf file.
