In Last One Standing Mode in Multiplayer (or any mode except Space Race) you can complete the starship and keep playing after that.

And does anybody else find it odd that you can only go to Phoenix Module in Space Race but you can go all the way to Evac. Module in the other modes?  :unsure:

no... cos your mission objective is to launch  the phoenix in space race... whereas launching any amount of stuff in other games makes no difference...
however, launching phoenix in a colony population game causes you to lose ...or was that the evac module

you only loose because it takes 200 people away from the rest of the colony

Yeah, its only a good idea to launch the evacuation module if you have a oversurplus of people, but make sure to make a good bit of scientists, as it tends to take a hefty bit from the scientist population.
