Can You Play Without The Blight?

Forgive me if this is a topic elsewhere in the forums. I bought this game off of ebay and had to buy the manual seperatly. I loved the first outpost game and enjoy the whole colony building idea. Everytime I play outpost 2 the blight destroys everything and I get frustrated and stop playing. I thought there was a way to turn off the blight in colony games but it won't let me, and the difficulty settings can't be changed. The help manual on the disc said you could play without all the disasters. If anyone knows how please tell me what to do. I've had this game for over a year now and still can't enjoy it.  I will be eternally gratefull for any help. (thumbsup)

There's only 1 colony game with the blight (Colony Builder II, Plymouth Starship). All the others are blight free.

Also, in multiplayer games, you can turn off disasters. Although, then you usually have another player comming to destroy your base. But, it depends on who you're playing against, and how you want to play.
