Need Help - My Children Doesn't Growing Up
« on: April 17, 2007, 09:39:56 AM »
I started new to play Outpost2, I played it when I was 14 and I loved it but it was/is soooooo hard^^

My problem is, I dont manage to get my colony to grow up, my population stagnates at 50 (30 children / 10 worker / 10 scientist), my children doesn't become workers and all my other people die.

I have a lot of Residence (Demand ca. 30%), Medical Center (ca. 25%), a Nursery and enough Food (2000 in storage).

PLZ HEEEEEEEEELLP

Help Replyed :P

Now the reason is probably that you dont have a Uniersity. Children automaticaly (if a uniersity is present) will become workers. To upgrade workers to scientist, select the button "Train"
To build an University, select Structure Factory and buiold an university. After it was builded, select a convec, load it, and build the university near tubes.

Need more help? :P

No it doesn't

Building a second nursery or university may seem to boost this growth.  However in actual fact morale just rises due to you building a new building for you colonists.

There are no bugs that I know of. Just research "Rare Ore Processing" at an advanced lab. The new beacons will appear on the map. Go survey them and build a mine like usual.

Actually...   Morale is a bit more complex then that...   Hooman disected the morale.txt, his post is around here somewhere.   Somebody wanna dig it up?

Anyway, yea, building "birth" adds a few points to morale.   But there are many other factors that affect it as well.   Really, all you NEED is residential demand under 100%, Medical Center demand under 100%, and a nursery, university.
Keep your people occupied.   Do not let unoccupied colonist ratio rise above 10%
Gorf, Recration facility, Forum techs affect morale.   If you don't reserch em, you don't have to worry about em.

Yeah, but it's a bit of a heavy read for an intro player. (The post is in the Programming section, under the Outpost 2 Coding subforum where all the internal stuff gets put).

You only need 1 university to get workers trained, and only 1 nursery to have children born. Having more won't increase the rate.

Having extra nurseries does slightly decrease the infant death rate though. But only by as much as a medical center would. It takes the same number of workers and scientists to run a med center though, and the med center will also decrease the death rate of workers and scientists too. You might as well build med centers instead of extra nurseries. Plus if the med center is upgraded, it will reduce the death rate by more. (Unupgraded ones affect the kids just as much as a nursery would).
