it wouldnt matter even if you tried to cheat in multi since a modified client would desync the game. youd never have the chance to cheat in multi unless both people had the same modifications. (hacker please clarify if im wrong)

from what i understand to cheat you have to play with the exe, not just the vol's. cheats were removed from the game for a reason. once youve played op2 enough you will see the cracks and will be able to get by without cheats as if you were in god mode.

It's a little hard to actually change the stats of units. You have to edit the dlls and crap, but editing only the vols, the farthest I got was allowing both teams to have both sides' technology, and unlocked the basic lab and other unusable crap

its not that hard, use a program to open the sheets.vol and then there will be a weapons.txt when you open it you will see a bunch of values, using trial and error you can find patterns and do whatever you want to the game.
I am the nincompoop, I eat atomic bombs for breakfest, fusion bombs for lunch, and anti-matter bombs for dinner

I just hope they don't explode

You just need to get weapons.txt extracted from Sheets.vol, and modify the weapon values. Mainly the penetration damage, and concussion damage values. Armor can block some concussion, but not penetration.

To get that file out of Sheets.vol, you can find a utility to extract it, like the map editor should probably do, or search for the file on the forums. I'm pretty sure that file is posted somewhere in the file forum in a thread relating to the VOL files. Originally the files in the VOLs were compressed, but a VOL with uncompressed files was posted there. However the VOL file utility that existed at the time seems to have had a slight bug and couldn't extract one of the files, so it was posted seperately later in the thread as a simple .txt file. If I remember correctly, it was weapons.txt. (Note, the old utility isn't used anymore since it could never handle the compression/decompression, and was a little buggy for the extraction, and didn't fully support repacking arbitrary files into VOLs).

So yeah, copy that file to the Outpost2 folder and edit it. Any settings in there will override what's in the VOL files. It looks in the Outpost2 folder before it checks the VOLs.

Could you also just modify the multitek to create a new researchable tech for an upgrad to the lynx?

Yes, that also works. You can even make the tech free so you start with it.

The relevant thread is here.

The VOL with uncompressed packed txt files was attached in the first post. An error was noticed after that (concerning the old VOL unpacker), so if you look down 2 replies you'll find weapons.txt attached on it's own. That's the only file you need extracted for what you want to do. Just download it to your Outpost2 folder and edit it.

There's also a pretty good multitek file out there. It's a pretty cool twist on the baseline tech.
