Here's a sort of 'game' I thought of today.

Post the song that you're currently listening to in this thread. No double posts, someone else must reply before you post.

And no repeats please, or anything like "No song playing for me"!

If you want post an extra tidbit of information about the song or the artist who performs it, perhaps the style of music that it is, maybe a snippet of the lyrics.

This will help get us to know each other better, by knowing what types of music we listen to.

I'll start it off --

My current song is "Sticks and Stones Never Made Sense" by Poison the Well.

The band gives me the impression that they were originally punk, but then switched to death metal. (Most of their songs are a punk / death metal mix. Quite interesting).

3 doors down -kryptonite

I think this song was writen for Christopher Reeve. It is alternative and is quite nice.

--If I go crazy then will you still Call me Superman If I'm alive and well will you be There holding my hand. I'll keep you by my side with my superhuman might kryptonite.--

Running, scrambling, flying
Rolling, turning, diving, going in again
Run, live to fly, fly to live, do or die
Run, live to fly, fly to live. Aces high.

Break me slowly - Foreign Oren

They are a band that I"m personal friends with. The lead singer is my close friend and they recently got a major record label with INO/Simple Records. This is an awesome song... They fuse an indie/pop sound into some form of alternative .... I think....

It's great :D

Mushroomhead - The War Inside

It's kind of a hard song to describe, you just have to hear it for yourself.

Quote
....
Breakdown - All the walls have fallen
My soul solely rages on
Storm the palace seize the crown
Soul solely rages
Whispered winds soon sound the calling
My soul solely rages on
Betray your malice heed your vows
On

Victory misery glory defeat
The war inside pushing me
Brings me to bleed
I thank you all for the laughs
Just like the poison in me
Raise a glass for my father then put me to sleep
....

"Dumb Little World" by Tilt

Tilt is a band that is considered underground Punk.  Featuring a female vocalist, they are a true rarity amongs the Punk scene

"I won't buy into this bad deal,
not so much as I'm dieing for my homeland,
This place is so wrapped up in itself,
playing the themesong to my expecriation;
but I can hear the anthem playin',
that sound will drive me further away,
what could be worse?
what could be further from home?
dumb little world,
dizzy and spitting up blood"

one of the best song that AFI wrote. But I think a lot of people enjoy AFI in this forum so you all know what I'm talking about ;)

Hmmm... maybe you could write a short resume of it.....

enyway I am now listening to Nofx separation of church and skate. Funny song that blame all of the punk rock group that only talk about love suicide and such things.  example:

I want conflict I want dissent, I want the scene to represent
Our hatred of authority, our fight against complacency
Stop singing songs about girls and love, you killed the owl you
freed the dove
Confrontation and politics replaced with harmonies and shticks
When did punk rock become so tame, these f**king bands all sound
the same
We want our fights we want our thugs, we want our burns we want
our drungs
Where is the violent apathy, these f**king records are rated g

AFI: "The Nephilim"

Story behind the song Days of the Pheonix:

Okay, here's a bit of a summary of it:

AFI broke up when 3 of the band members moved away to go to college.  They played a reunion show at the Pheonix theater.  Before the reunion show, nobodyu really cared about them, but at the show, over 100 people showed up, and they realized that that was what they wanted to do with the rest of their lives.  Days of the Phoenix is about that show.

"the ghost upon the stage"  Davey wasn't well known

"Ghost stories handed down, reach secret tunnels below"  the phoenix theater is rumored to have hidden tunnels below it and to be haunted, but no one can confirm or deny it

"no one could see me"  when AFI is up on stage playing, it is like they blend in with everyone

"I fell into fantasey"  As far back as he can remember, Davey Havok has always wanted to be in a hardcore band

"The girl on the wall is waiting for me, she was always smiling"  on the wall opposite the stage, there is a picture of a smiling woman

"The teenage death boys, the teenage death girls, and everyone was dancing"  all the fans out in the crowd hardcore dancing

"no one could touch us then"  when they play, everything just melts away, it's a sense of euphoria that takes over them when they are playing

"our dreams seemed not far away"  before they broke up, they were so close to their goal without ever realizing it

"I want to stay"  Their realization that this is what they should be doing, it is what makes them happy

"the circle of rage" mosh pit, the area where the real dancing happens at hardcore shows

I once knew what every phrase ment, but I've forgotten some of them

Meshuggah - Ritual.

As for comments, can't really comment on it as I just got ahold of it a couple days ago (and just began to listen to it)

Remember, this thread isn't to post what your favorite song is, it's to post the song you're currently listening to. Just to make that clear.

My favorite band, my favorite song, just good lyrics. Means alot to me. =P You probably wont like it. it's 9 minutes and 49 seconds long, so there's a good chance that I'm usually listening to it.

It's from this little game called Outpost 2... Ever head of it?
Thought not.  ;)

Okay, so I opened it up just so I could say I was listening to it. I thought it was fun.

"Rise" by Origa and Yoko Kanno. It's also the beginning theme for Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (The second series).
Wannabe Novelist, Drawer, Anime Style, and all-around creative insane person. I also like to study tactics... but RTC games aren't exactly easy to watch for such things... we don't actually think as much as we should, and that's why I love TBS games. However, that doesn't mean I don't like RTCs!
