This Is F***ed Up!

I knew college was hard...but:

On Thursday February 16, 2006 at about 10:00 pm UCPD responded to
the Lothian Residence Halls in reference to a report from staff of a
possible suicide. On arrival, Officers located the student in his room where
he unfortunately took his life by a hanging himself.  The Riverside Fire
Department responded for medical aid and determined that the student died
prior to the officer's arrival.  The Riverside Coroner's Office was then
called to the scene.  UCPD and the Coroner's Office have completed the
investigation into this case and have also determined it to be a suicide.

I mean, holy s***!  That's not the way to deal with issues

That is not very nice to say, he probably had some form of depression, not something to be joked about as i have once been down that road before, it is a very bumy ride, admins please lock this topic

I admit that it could confuse you moogle. But,the other are right. I refer to the investigator since we only talk about them on the first post.. or almost...

Lets look at it this way people

He commited suicide, which will do more HARM than good now. Because his parents will now wonder if they did something wrong while parenting him, his little brother or sister (if they have one) will be without an older brother, a mentor, a guide, and thus will begin to worry about there own futures

But, to make matters worse, commiting suicide didn't solve ANYTHING at all, it just ended his life, a life where he could've accomplished a lot more IF he had taken the time to get some help

I to have been down that road, but I had enough of a brain to go to my councilor and talk to him about it, and thanks to that I got myself some help

So yes, it is STUPID to commit suicide, thinking that will solve ALL your problems, did this kid not bother to read news articles that clearly say "Suicide doesn't solve problems, it just add's to them."

I'm sorry if my view is out of hand, but thats how I've always viewed it. Thanks to him commiting suicide, his parents are going to continue to question themselves...

You are completely right. He probably had some form of depression, which is really sad... In a way, it wasn't completely his fault, if he had depression, well, actually it was his fault, but I bet there is a point that you lose your sense of reality and reasoning, and then, it's all downhill from there, sadly  :'( .

Officers can certainly be idiots... but then, it's their job to be thorough about things no matter how dumb it would seem. It is possible that the kid had a rival who made it seem like he hanged himself and the suicide would then have been a homicide investigation...

Of course, it didn't turn out that way.

Also haXtor, I don't think anyone on this forum takes suicide lightly... (actually, I don't think anybody does). I know I very much don't... I've been there before so I know what it's like (obviously I didn't succeed but I know that it's usually more than 'just depression').

I think almost everyone has thought about doing it.  There have been a few times where I felt that I had served my purpose and that my existance was futile now, but then I remind myself that if it were true i'd already be dead

Being a former fireman I happen to know that irrigardless of whether or not someone is obviously dead when you find them you have to make an official report and conclusion. This is done for official reporting purposes and no matter how retarded it is it is not the firemans fault they have to follow proticol.

Um, for those of you who don't know, the coroner must confirm any suspicion as to the time of death. And it must be stated as such in the police report. So no the officers are not idiots.

They are also required to call for medical assistance because there might be time to revive the person.

You may think this is a silly and useless practice, however it has saved a lot of lives. You can be revived up to 30 minutes after dying, albeit with risk of brain damage after the first 3 minutes without air.
