He set the weapon to the emp blast, I think.

And, no, you can't add it by editing the techtree because it would have to count as a totally different unit altogether.

IMO it's simulating multiple repetitive EMP missle blasts on that same position.

We could test to see if it's really simulating, or actually 'doing' by setting up eden observatories and missle defense and seeing if that stops them- which I seriously doubt.

It's a truly amazing weapon. I'd much rather see it on a different platform, but other than that it definitely has potential, I'd like to see it implemented.

It only does EMP 'damage' in the area that you see enamating, not the area closest to the scorpion. The problem with that is unless you're constantly firing, one microwave lynx could destroy your scorp just by sneaking in.

He also has some 'supernova' scorpions that are too cool to play with. Move it in, and back the rest of your units at least 15 tiles back, because it has major fallout.

I'd release the DLL he created, but I dunno if he want's it public yet. But I'd incorporate this into the game if it's possible- it definitely seems to be what we're looking for in the plymouth department- to offset Thor's Hammer's incredible impact. Of course some players like Starfox seem to take advantage of the EMP missle- and fire them in rapid succession... but I'm not here to complain- sorry..

maybe with one of the little cylinder, that would do a starfire scorpion :op2:

That was funny- but true if we're talking about real-world physics, supernova turrets have been shown comprable to normal turrets (it can be placed on a lynx) so why can't the New Terreans throw supernovas on scorpions like the Plymoutheans threw lasers on scorpions?

Makes enough sense to me.. 3 way syllogism logic.

It's a very simple change in CreateUnit (as you can specify weapon type in that function)... <_< No point in waiting until the reunion.

BTW a mapAtheistBuildingExplosion is much much much more distructive in a Scorpion then the mapSupernova2

It draws the Inter Colony Transport over the Scorpion and makes the Rocket Launch noise a lot. I thought it sounded like artilley or something.

Just be warned you can't build them and only start with a limited supply!

Well, Eden and Plymouth start with it in this map, since you can't build 'em anyways.

emp bomb is a good idea but i think it would work better in the style of the supernova weapon. putting it on a lynx makes more sense than on a scorpion.

maybe we can make the Eden Flea Unit while we're at it? its so small the enemy cant even see it but when it detonates it destroys everything in a 2 screen radius. how cool is that? its not like its totally throwing the game out of balance or anything. it even works with the novella ;);););)

Anyway...

I thought about it- and realized it's kinda pointless (I'm a huge hypocrite).

Plymouth already has a supernova- if you can get an enemy's units to stand still long enough to get supernova'ed, then they can have this weapon used on them surely. So it's six of one- and half a dozen of another.

However hot the EMP thing is, we're having enough controversy over Plymouth and EMP's as it is- I dont' think bringing an easier method of EMP Spamming into the mix will help much either.

Since you don't want to replace the emp missile, how about reducing the Scorpions EMP blast range to that of a Supoernove ?

That way it won't replace the missile entirely, just add in a new unit.

Cost and speed would have to be tested though.

I don't want to add or replace anything in the normal game... I just think it's fun to use on special maps.

well once we actually GET some mods i think someone needs to make a mod utility that lets you start the game with whatever mods you want activated. fiddling with files and ini's is just gonna frustrate ppl.

As stated in a description at some point in the game, (I forget where), the weapon on the scorpion is actually an enlarged hand rifle.   Not a full blown, laser powered gun.

... and from a technical persepective, the stats on the "energy cannon" that scorpions use is much weaken then other weapons, such as lasers. That and it's a seperate weapon internally. Plus the sound file for it firing sounds kinda pathetic. Seems more like something you'd scratch yourself with.
