Have a suggestion for "bob"? Please post it here. We need as many choices as we can get :D

At the end of this week, the suggestions will be taken and put into a poll where you guys have until January 1 to decide the fate of "bob" :o

Have fun!

For lack of a better idea, I'm gonna post "new venus" just to get things moving along.

Anyone tempted to mock "Earth II"? Or maybe something a little different like "Venus II", just do we don't get sued.  :P  Or there is always "Terra II", or we could again call it "New Terra" and rename the other planet "Old Terra".  :P  (Or "Old New Terra", as is the custom in some places).

Lol Freeza.

How about ChaBuDuo? In the spirit of selecting an Outpost 2 planet to land on, it means more or less / imprecise. (Or lacking by not much).  :P

Just as long as you don't call it 1337.  (thumbsdown)

Some of the names I've seen are excellant. Others are... well... not happening  :heh:

Anyway, stormy, Zanco, TH300 and I will go through all of the names listed and we'll choose 10 of the tops that we think work best. We will then create a poll and see how things go.

Sound good to everybody?

(My personal favorite is New Hope in the spirit of OP2 but it's not my decision to make, now is it?) :)

What do you mean get sued? For what?

I HIGHLY doubt we will  be sued for OP2... just... I have a feeling we won't. Either way, OP3 will go on. There isn't a problem with OP3 if you think of it as a "Mod" to op2. Besides, this is all our own work. They can't sue us for our own work! (don't go off topic here, i"m just making my point, keep it on the names :) )

Axalon, great ideas! :D:D:D... although, looks like we will have to have an elimination round to get rid them down to a # that can be put into a poll.

BTW, I like "New Haven" as a name... but we will see :P

Normally I'd suggest "New Terra", based on the small pieces of story information I think I've figured out. But then we'd have to start calling it "OP2 New Terra" and "OP3 New Terra" so we knew what everyone was talking about... So I nominate Terra XXVI for no particular reason.

Yep.  B)
And I meant getting sued by the "Earth II" people if we stole their name. (It's an old TV show I watched when I was sorta little).

And yeah, as long as we replace "Bob" with something other than 1337, I'll be happy. (Probably).

How about Nali-Nali?

Hmm, why do the words "Others are... well... not happening " come to mind?

I thought they said they were done collecting names and were going to begin to set up a poll by eliminating names down to make a good poll.

It would be bad to keep adding names nothing would get done

Heh, yeah. Freeza has a point. I guess this is all just useless babble now.  :P

Actually, I was thinking 10 might be a bit much to decide on. Polls don't typically have all that great of a turnout on most parts of the forums. It'd suck if everyone voted for a different name, and they were all left tied at 1 vote each. On the other hand, maybe most people will think the majority of names aren't that great and we'll all vote together as one big happy family.  (thumbsup)

LOL hooman your optimism sickens me.  Work all as one big family this isnt the brady Bunch LOL

Any way Ya this poll is going to be interesting Usually polls dont get much coverage and have maybe like 10 votes total.  But i think ill takes Levi's Approach and post the link to this tread now and then :).

hehehe... it's good to know that people  pay attention to what I have to say.

Anyway, I guess we could cut down the names in two stages. Instead of ten we'll do 8. We'll run that poll for a couple of weeks. After that, we'll take the 4 highest bidders and run the poll for another couple of weeks. Then we'll take the two highest out of that and which ever one gets the most votes by Jan 1, 2006 will be Bob's new name... :D

Sound good to everone?

Two things: One, this topic should remain open so that people can continue to post ideas.

Second, I have one to post myself:

Cythera (pronounced Kithera)

Reason: Some astronomers use Cytherean rather than Venusian/Venesean. After looking it up on Wikipedia, this is the article that I found: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cythera

I'm assuming that there is some sort of signifigance to using the name possibly because of the landscape of the island.

Anyway, I figured it might work out. It's a cool name anyway!  (thumbsup)

Have you thought of maybe even using a numeric name?

For example, "Alpha 42.11" or something similar.

Then maybe shorten it to just Alpha.

Another thing is, Greek letter names or something. Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, ...
