Word
In the beginning was the word.
– John 1:1
If Word was god,
You would be lame
A devil, not a god.
And everyone
Would die of shame
Because you are so odd.
A box
I tell you to create,
And you delete a line.
You cannot even relocate
A picture of a vine!
There is but one good way to win
A war against a dumb machine:
Since I’m so tired of trying
To make you do things right,
And I don’t feel like buying
A program in a better light,
I will just write my text by hand.
But none would really understand
What I will have achieved.
No one will be relieved
That I no longer fight this war
Against the Word, which makes me sore,
So I’ll press on, just as before:
I’ll fight and fight forevermore.
I cannot beat this bag of steel,
But I could ally it. I feel,
That if I parry long enough,
It may not be so very tough
To find out secrets that await
To be found out – that is their fate.
I will press on, I will succeed,
And God allmighty will be freed.
The Word will roam its empty shores
That, once it thought, all man adores.
So why, then, did you say, O Lord,
“In the beginning was the word?”
