Good news everyone,

I have found someone ( more likely that person has found me by posting an answer to my topic) who is in possession of the french version of the game, and s/he is ready to help us by providing the different files necessary for the translation of the game. I have invited him/her to come onto irc, but I  am not sure if s/he will come in the next days. So I would like you-all to tell me the names of the files that s/he should send me. I was thinking about the voice.vol, but I am not sure what dll's s/he should send me.

And yeah, if Levi could make me an account, it would be easier for our Samaritan to send me the files ;p Then I will send them to the one who is in charge ( I am thinking about Hacker) of packing the files and getting them onto the site and out to users.

Less job for you Hacker.  ;)

zanco, we already have the french files, and the german ones. From what hackers told me, the bit for translation is pretty much done.

Hmm... From what I have read, I have the impression that Hacker "directly" translated the English files to French. If he did so, there would be possibilities of imcomprehension as direct translation is always misleading.

Proof as for me saying Hacker directly translated English files to French:

we have the voice files, and the translations were obtained by reading the string table out of the op2 exe, and other shell elements.  :find: @ zanco

yea we just slackers and slow with doing stuff, we have had the french and german files for ages just not completed making the different versions. there is so much to work on and not everyone is working at once and not everyone can do everything.

we will get these versions done and then hopefully move on to other versions soon with help from others.

the more help we get from other people the faster we can get anything and everything done

Well, I could help you from time to time though I am quite busy now. I will try to do my best as many other people are asking for the french version. So if Hacker agrees, I can help him with the translation. He just has to show me the rope.

acct...? 4 wt? we were planning on releasing the translation system at the next major release point, as far as i know.

Well, I didn't know that. And it looks like you could use a hand there. As I said before, i could help you. you just have to show me what I have to do to accelerate the release of the french version. Once again, I am not rushing you, I am just trying to help.

I didn't translate it myself, I copied the translation from the french OP2 version. (neutrino sent it to us)

I don't know french myself, so I couldn't translate it myself.

Like joe and levi said, its almost set to go - just gotta package it really. (And figure out how to deal with the checksum differences on techfiles)
