Before you go running off to the website to download the video and fire up whatever program you're playing it in, please note that it's only the very beginning of the video and it is far from complete. There is no sound track and there are no voices.

However, it's a glimpse into the very near future and it's a sneak peek at the game-in-progress.

And yes, I plan on using FULLSCREEN FMV's in the game! :-) It'll be a nice touch, I think! :-)

gpgarretboast is correct. It stands for Full Motion Video. The acronym FMV was made popular by the Final Fantasy Series becuase of how much the series uses them.

I plan on using a lot of the original videos from the old game... :-D It's just that converting FLC/FLI/FLX format files to MPEG is a real pain in the ass. I'll see if another format will work better.

Oh well... :-)

I had thought of AVI. The only problems with the AVI  formatis a) it's an interleaved format, B) it's very bulky and c) it's compression technology causes a lot of potential graphic glitches.

I'll figure it out.

Thanks!

the current vid is jumpy and not smooth.
avi is the way 2 go.
u could compress small and large versions of the same vids.
also use mp3 audio codec.

id be happy 2 help u make vids which would leave u time 2 code, i just got Adobe Premiere 7.0 which is the new Pro version :)
of chorse if u wanna make all the vids on ur own, do hf

You know, it'd be great if someone else did the vids... :-D

On my computer, the video is perfectly smooth. The resolution is 640x480 so that may be why it's jumpy on your computer.

Premier is a really great program and can create the best videos for any game. I don't want to use WMV format anyway. I was thinking MPEG. It's easy to program a player for and its compression algorithims are really good.

Thanks for the offer!

Agreed. I've always thought that. I used to have a team of individuals who were extremely talented. Due to uncontrolable circumstances we were all separated and I, being the leader of the team, got stuck with many of our project.

And to anyone following this thread, if you have anything that you would like to contribute (e.g. music, sound effects, building/unit artwork, etc.), please feel free to contact me! You can find my e-mail address in my profile, on any of my sites, and right here:

I look forward to hearing from anyone.
