Excuse me if this is incredibly inacurate, but I remember reading something like it in the Good News Bible. I also don't have one handy, not a Christian, but I go to a catholic school. I think it was a parable but I don't remember, its been a year since I had religion and got to look at a Good News bible.
The hypocrites pray in public, and let everyone know. They will get their reward in heaven. However, those who pray in private, and conceal their faith will also get their reward in heaven. The hypocrites give money to the poor, they do it publicly and make a big show of it. They will surely get their reward in heaven. However, those that do help the poor in private and do not tell anyone will get their reward in heaven.
It goes something like that. I have a semi formulated idea on what it means, but I'm not sure.
I'm not sure this is in there, but I remember it strongly... Again, not sure how it goes.
The least you do onto others is what you do unto me
Plus, who cares if it turns into a religious debate, so long as it dosn't turn into a flame war. People keep it calm and respect eachother and don't heat it up and there shouldn't be a problem. I'm pretty sure most people here are respectful of others beliefs, just the same old case of the few ruining life for the many.
