I have it, much to my surprise.  Never really was a Starcraft fan, but I tried out the beta and it was amazing.

Me for sure. (: And I am almost done with the campaign with about 60% of the achievements for it. Also, Kayedon that post at the time was BEFORE StarCraft II came out.

Achievements are dumb.  They're a cheap trick to get you to replay the same game over and over when normally you'd have moved on.  A game's replay value should come from good gameplay, not lame awards.

My apologies, didn't realize it was a spambot. :)

And I will concur that awards are stupid ... but I just can't resist NOT getting them if they're accessible. >_<
By accessible, I mean "kill everyone with two bullets" is inaccessible.

That is why I get them just because it would drive me nuts not to. And in StarCraft II they are all good achievements, not ones that make you play in some weird why, but ones that truly test you game skill. They is why I am liking them so much. They are making me better at the game, considering it is a heavily competitive online game. I only intend to get all the non-multiplayer achievements though. I doubt I could play long enough or well enough to get th others.

to me i see acheivements as a couple things.

1 as stated by sirbomber to make you keep playing it over and over.
2 so people can have a dick waving contest in who has more acheivements
3 so you can earn worthless crap in the game that really wont help you or introduces a complete end all solution making the game to easy.
and
4 because so many people wasted there lives playing wow to get acheivements why not use it on this too yay dick waving

I havent played it yet watched alot of vids tho.  Not sure if i would enjoy it tho.

Any way, it got a great review, so I will check it out. I only play achievements on games that have pretty fun ones, like the ones in Portal (if I recall).

The game was better before I learned how to view the achievements for each level before I played it. I blame Angellus for telling me how to view them.

I'm on the last mission, but I got some sensors in the mail for my robot, so SC2 is now my 5th priority (food, sleep, work, robot, sc2).

The last mission is wonderful. I only wished I had a better PC to play it. It is very similar to In Utter Darkness, the Protoss stand off mission.
