Tonight I played a game (RR) which I felt was unfair. When expressing my opinion, I was flamed by several memebers, accused of flaming, told I was breaking the rules, and threatened to be kicked by ZZJ several times.

Yeah, I'd have to say that both Sirbomber and Arklon were a little bit out of line, let's not see that again. He's right, it was just a game, you don't need to get into a big argument. If anyone was being abusive, it was both of you.

However, Joe, it was not necessary to threaten them with the "I'll kick you" routine everytime you see something going wrong. I think you can be a bit hasty to make decisions. If this kind of behavior keeps continuing, you might end up being the one kicked or banned, not Sirbomber or Arklon. Read the OP rules to find out why.

Either way, everyone needs to cool off and stop acting like they're about 6 years old. The outcome of one game is nothing to get into a big argument about, and these types of outbursts will simply not be tolerated.

Okay, ZZJ, if you're going to tell people to calm down, try to stay calm yourself, or else it ain't gonna work.

Horus, that was just being an ass.  That was just flat out uncalled for in any situation.

If I ever get a chance, I'll tell instigator myself why that part is abusive.

Arklon, I did not see anything abusive about what you said, however I think it might be better for you to try to speak in a calmer manner in a situation such as this

bomber, I have to say of all the people in that piece of convo that you remained the most level headed.  I don't see any instances of flaming anyone or deliberate attempts at getting people rialled (once again my spelling sucks -.- ) up about it.


From what I'm seeing that is relavant to the convo, I have to dissagree with hacker: bomber was not being abusive, but arklon was approaching that line.  They were not off topic for the channel: they were discussing an aspect OF THE GAME.  What I see is an attempt to state an opinion about a possible issue in the coding that is being oppressed by the ops that were present, and two people who were so closed minded to the slight possibility of it that they quit the channel.

Now, as to that issue, I doubt that it has something to do with eden vs plymoth, but instead with colony placement.  If I am not mistaken, all non-LR games that are on the same map have the same colony locations.  Some maps have alternating ore spots (one of the reasons I like fractures so much), but if I'm correct about the map, they are constant in this case.  Usually there are other strategical advantages that are given/forfeited depending on ore distance, despite the fact that not all of them are usefull in all game types.  If you would like, bomber, I am willing to get on hamachi long enough for you to test out your theory some time so that we know for sure what the truth of the situation is.

I agree, and when things like this happen, and you're angry, it's really really hard to keep yourself from flaming people. We are not moving to another network. At least I am not. If someone thinks, it would be good to move, they shall move. NOone can keep me from staying on Quakenet. I'm fed up with moving.

And as I see it, there is nothing wrong with regulars getting ops. Or did any of us abuse the power yet? Its not an issue. Its just fine, because it makes people stay active.

As for the topic:
everybody has the right to complain about things they don't like. If then someone comes and takes this right, an agressive reaction is understandable. Would have been a good idea to just let the conversation go. If its Dynamix's fault there's anyway nothing we can do about it.

At this time there is no need to move. Although Quakenet can be pretty crappy at times, we already have everything established and it would do more harm than good to move everyone.

As for the op situation, I think it's gotten a bit overboard, we should probably reconsider it. However, this isnt the right thread for that.

The only person that is being accused of op abuse in this thread is a member that has had an op for a long time, and is as far as I know the only one to actually have abused his op since regulars started receiving ops. The rules clearly state that if you abuse your op once you lose it. Yet he still has it.

As for the others, their acting stupid but none of them abused their ops.

This has been said so many times, so I'm going to capitalize it.

THE GAME IS NOT BALANCED.   THE ORE IS NOT EVEN.    THE START LOCATIONS ARE NOT EVEN.
Outpost 2 is a colony game, NOT another C&C clone!
THERE IS GOING TO BE MAJOR IMBALANCES BECAUSE OF THIS!
As for Eden being "Disadvantaged"
They are NOT as bad as people make it out they are.
Eden is almost unkillable once it gets Thor Hammer Tiggers en masse.
Eden was originally designed to be expensive on the ore.   Their combat units cost more then Plymouth's.
While it is agreed that the laser is not good early in game, thats why you rush Railguns and EMPs!   Failure to do so results in your death.
There are other tactics you can use, but I'm not going to go into them.   Figure them out yourself.
Eden requires you to be careful.   It requires you to use tactics.
In the early game, they CANNOT win a shooting war with Plymouth.   Find alternatives.   Harrass.   Get them to fight other people.
All else fails, PLAY PLYMOUTH.

While it's still a game - people in general tend to take things overboard when they're angry. True, SirBomber got a little riled (That's how it's spelled CK9 ) up, as well as Arklon and McShay - but you people all just need to chill.

Horus, you're cool and can be offensive when you don't mean to be. I for one can tell when you're being funny and when you're being an ass (which isn't that often). Other people can't. I like to keep my cynicalist attitude for face-to-face conversations where my facial expressions and the context can do the storytelling for me.

ZZJ - You're always quick to jump to the gun and pull the trigger. There's really a problem there, this might not be my place, but you need to chill just as much as Arklon and SirBomber do- especially since you're part of the OPU Staff, that's all the more reason for you to show maturity and exemplify the OP Rules - if you don't, what are the regulars with OPs supposed to do? You need to lead by example, and THEN and only THEN with force. I think you should in no way be exempt to the OP rules and when you violate the rules, you too should be 'disbarred' (in legal terms), in laymans terms, you gotta go - of course, only in the hypothetical situation.

CK9 - The 'issue' hasn't become an 'issue' to my knowledge. Granted, I've been absentee since the week of reunion, but I surely would've been aware of a Columbine-reminiscent scenario in our channel - where someone with OPs goes and bans everyone. That'd be an issue. This minor stuff isn't an issue yet, and until it is, it's keeping everyone's morale high and all that shiznit. Good for everyone. In the words of Sl0vi - that are often overlooked and should be kept in mind:
