My Computer And His Graphic Bugs
« on: November 19, 2005, 12:09:37 PM »
hello guys, my computer is reached of horrible graphic bugs, that is generally fine yellow bars who cross my screen, that can become less fine blues bars very visible, these bars appear when I go on internet, they disappear when I play games, except the past-2000-games, who undergo bugs in the 3D   ... it isn't the monitor, because when I shout a screen, the bars remain; it isn't a virus, because I have do a lot of antivirus... do you know it is the graphic card? my computer is portable, and the portable's ventilator isn't very effective...   :(  believe you I must buy an other graphic card?

its either a bad connection in ur compys hinge, or the cards overheating and possibly is damaged. unless you have a newer laptop (ex less than about i yr old) ,the gfx card cannot be replaced.

you could try a diff os or reinstall to see if its a driver issue; but personally i doubt that.

my card is relatively recent! but, what is a "laptop"? I hope it's just a bad plug, if my card had melted, that would be awkward  :heh:

A laptop has a thin screen and opens like a book. So yea....

I hope you don't have to buy a new one if it turns out to be a laptop and a bad gfx card ...

Spirit1flyer: yes, the bugs appear when I start up my computer to the first time in the day...

Stormy: me either, I hope I don't have buy a new computer, that is expensive  B)
the problem, with the laptop, it is impossibility of dismounting them, to search and resolve the breakdown :( a fixed computer, they give councils to assemble it from spare parts, but a laptop, it's conceived to encumber the least possible, disassemble it is a specialist worker   :'(

Ewwww, I have this on my laptop (which is probably why I stopped using it). I just kinda closed the thing so the screen would shut off and open it again until they disappeared.

He put the computer in sleep cycle and then turned it on again siqueule ;)

if its not a driver issue then you would have to take it into a repair shop and see if they can fix it and for how much.    It might be cheaper buying a new computer.

Who knows what I did. Assuming you have a laptop, just fold the monitor so the laptop is closed. If you don't have a laptop, well, try shutting the monitor off I guess.

ok, I will close the monitor when the computer willn't be used... but I remember somethink: once, I have touched the pilots of the graphic card, and it was desactivate, it is the chipset on the mum card who had taken the relay! but, I use never the mum card's chipset, it could not be damaged! hum... maybe it's the monitor who's damaged, and when I want shoot a screen, the computer record the color of each pixel such as it appears on the screen! if the screenshot's mecanism is them, that could explain a lot of think... <_<

I have talked too quickly: if it the monitor who had a problem, the blues lines don't followed the textures of my recents games, but it's the cas... maybe it is the mum card who has the problem, but it seems to me, that it is that who manage the sounds, ROM, etc... but with share the graphics, I have none music who jerk... the mystery remains whole  <_<

i know this problem. it is one of 3 things:

1.Hibernate is taking up too much memory/hdspace. If you went into settings and set it too high, youll get errors.

2. Hard drive errors are causing stored hibernation data to come out corrupted when the top is opened back up. Youll need a new HD to fix this problem.

3. Overheating. when your computer hibernates, system fans shut off. you said the one in your laptop areent sufficient, so that makes me thing heat is your problem. when the fans go off, the heat isnt being removed from the system anymore. turning the laptop back on immediately after closing the lid will start the system again but not the fans. My dad's laptop had problem with system fans shutting off whenever a screen saver started, so it could be an issue of faulty mobo.

any way you go, youll have to take it to someone. knowing the cause wont fix it unfortunately :( ive seen these yellow and blue bars many times while messing with my dads laptop and it seems to occur whenever screen resolution is modified or the monitor is initialized. also when driver settings are changed. that means it could be any thousand things. if you can duplicate the problem, show it to a tech at a repair center. it will be more helpful if you can replicate it at idle as well as under load. if the problem occurs more under heavy system load then you can be sure its a memory/hd/cpu issue. if not it may just be a faulty video driver or adapter.

lol, siqueule i like how you have a link to babelfish in your forum profile :P it might be easier for you if you write out your computer trouble in french so we can use babelfish. describing technical problems is tough enough as it is, its not fair for us to ask you to explain those issues in another language. we're here to help, afterall! i just hope some of what i said made any sense to you. my first language was french, but unfortunately i have forgotten most of it.

just slap me if im being insensitive
