In Search Of.....Outpost 2 Strategy Guide
« on: January 22, 2018, 01:16:21 PM »
Anyone know where I can find the strategy guide? I recently started playing Outpost 2 again and for the life of me, I cannot find my copy that I had ages ago. I think it got lost or tossed in one of my many moves. Sure, I can play without it, but there are a few processes and more effective orders of doing things that I can find more easily in a book or pdf than weeding through a bunch of forums.

It is unavailable on Amazon.com, and while there ARE some PDFs out there, they all require my CC info and/or a long string of "special offers." Yeah....not gonna do that.

Thanks!

Hi Dawby,

Welcome to the Outpost Universe forums!

The original tutorials and a fair amount of information on the game is contained in the wiki here: https://wiki.outpost2.net/doku.php?id=outpost_2:outpost_2_manual:online_manual

I would start with that information. Unfortunately, I'm not sure it will contain everything you are looking for.

Thank you! I have the original manual, and I've perused these boards and the Wiki a little bit, but it's that big paperback I was looking for. I'm sure I can find what I'm most interested in/needing from those two places, but I find it easier to go through a book or PDF. I'm more efficient.

Of course....there's much to be said for playing without. I've just gotten a bit tired of trial and error.

I see the difficulty you're coming across. It's surprising that the official strategy guide (I assume you mean the one by Prima) is so hard to find. I'll keep my eyes out for it because now I'm curious.

You can join in on IRC (see the chat link at the top of the page for an easy way to join) -- lots of players there that can give you pointers. Leviathan, 9-Ball, B3-Bomber and _A_ can give you some tips for sure. Who knows, maybe we can transcribe the chats you come up with into an OPU strategy guide?

Sounds pretty neat! I see your avatar on here on many responses, and it looks like just about everyone here is helpful and knowledgeable. I might just check that out!

And yes, the Prima guide.

TBH...part of it is also me being a super nerd and enjoying reading them. But it’s mostly for The previously stated purpose.

Yeah, we don't really have a cohesive official strategy guide. That might be nice to have. All I can think of are a few level specific guides from random players. We have some dumps of raw game stats and algorithms, though not much high level analysis of what to do with all that info.

Hello, and welcome!

Sorry for bumping it but here's a .zip file of the strat guide and other documents from the Outpost 2 .iso strategy folder.  Someone has to convert them from word 97 to something that can be used in modern apps though (wordpad can sorta read them as-is).
