It uses its own engine, which has a lot of bad coding techniques from what we've been able to understand.

Outpost 2 runs from its executable and accesses art and stats files located in the exe directory. Its difficult to call it a "game engine".

well the reason i asked is becouse several old games that i used to play have been ported or remade with a newer engine as an example
wing commander: privateer is now  gemini gold
 gemini gold            http://priv.solsector.net/ and
 privateer remake  http://wcuniverse.sourceforge.net/

would probley be easer to port to a newer engine

I don't know if it is possible, but i think i would be good to do it., that eddy-b could have a little less problems making AI and inputing it, but i think that moving from one to another game engine is tough job.

But still, if it can be done, somebody should try, even if it last for a long time. I'l live enought to see op2 in new game engine :P
