It was a map of maps (of sorts). The "world" map was only a grid split up into about 10 locations. Each location was an OP2 game map. There were two teams (red and blue). Each team had several online members. Rival members played eachother for control of one of the grid locations (by playing the corresponding OP2 game map). A team had to win several multi games to take control of a location.

The point was for a particular team to take control of the world map (hence "World Domination"). The whole thing makes much more sense if you could simply see the old "world" map.

And to answer the original question. It was sort of dropped because not many people were actually playing World Domination games.

Might be a solution to have more than 2 groups ?

If you implement some restrictions on how the teams (3 players per team would be easiest) should be buildt up, you could get some more strategy into it ? (Diplomacy)

Leave the whole thing running for a month or two, and the team controlling most land is declared winner and award them a prize or something ? (Doesn't have to be so big, but maybe create a hall of honors where 3 top groups are placed each round)
There can be Only one. Wipe Them out. All of Them.
