Ive got several SDK's and IDE's for developing games of various types. I would like to develop an Outpost 2 RPG using these tools. I dont plan on taking years to make them either. Im thinking graphics somewhere between Zelda: Link to the Past and Fallout 2. I want simple graphics (easy and quick to make) with a gritty feel to them. Ive got an idea for a theme but the first step is to write the story or script. It is of primary importance since I could develop it into a PC game, a MUD (telnet text) game or develop it into a novella if I decide a game would be too much work. So no matter what happens, Im at least writing a story.
So if anyone has ideas for a story, just let me know. I would be happy to hear anything and if you like, work it into the story. Im a good analytical writer but creative writing is something I havent done since highschool. Any help you guys can offer would be great. If I decide to continue the goal of making the script into a game, the game will draw on aspects of the story within the capabilities of the engine and tools I choose to make it with. I will not sacrifice the story just to make it easier to put into a game.
All material related to the story/script will be kept in the following directory:
http://horus.opu.org.uk/outpost/I think access to this directory will become more useful as time goes on and the project develops.
For now I am concentrating only on the story while I play with an learn the game tools. I dont plan on having a huge team or taking years to make this game. I want it out for use as soon as I can once begin work on it.
So let me know if anyone wants to work on the project with me or just contribute here and there. Everything will be open to the community so dont add anything you dont mind sharing with everyone else. Most of all, I want the experience making and playing the game to be a good one!
