Reunion
We are currently gauging interest in hosting another Outpost reunion on IRC as we have done in the past. We are currently thinking of holding it before christmas or maybe by the New Year, so please give us your suggestions in this forum thread:
http://forum.outpostuniverse.net/index.php?showtopic=3318

Outpost 2
The Outpost 2 game version is now at 1.3.4. You can download it from the website http://www.outpostuniverse.net/index/gamedownload if you have not already. You will need to delete your old install folder before installing the new version.

Outpost 3: Genesis
There is plenty of discussion on the forums regarding new ideas for this fan-based game, so please get involved and post any sugestions you have or things you would like to see in the game. The team will be happy to hear any of your ideas. More pictures have been released, check the forum and be sure to visit the website, www.op3game.net

Outpost 2 Mapper
Work has started on version 3 of the Mapper. op2hacker has decided to rewrite the OP2Mapper code in C++ for speed and stability. By contrast the current version, OP2Mapper v2.2.1, is about 35-50% C++ and 50-65% VB6.  There are plans for some new features, including allowing custom plugins, docking tool windows, and more. More info here:
http://forum.outpostuniverse.net/index.php?showforum=68

Outpost Online
Galactic has decided to start production on a new type of game for outpost. This game will be an html based multiplayer game based on Outpost 2. It will be coded in PHP along MySQL for the database engine. More info here: http://forum.outpostuniverse.net/index.php?showtopic=3346

Outpost: Renegades
Renegades is a new single-player campaign for Outpost 2 created by Eddy-B. If you have not already checked it out, then please do so now! Mission Pack 1 can be downloaded from here:
http://forum.outpostuniverse.net/index.php?showtopic=2599
Also the a colony game in the renegades world is now in prgress!

Outpost 2 Recording System
op2hacker has written a system to record OP2 games into a file and allow you to play them back at a later time, including multiplayer games. Pretty soon you will be able to throw away Camtasia studio, Fraps, or whichever video recorder you use to record OP2 games. With this you can throw away the lag that comes with using such software. More info here:
http://forum.outpostuniverse.net/index.php?showtopic=2941

Artificial Intelligence Scripter
Eddy-B has started work on a Outpost 2 artificial intelligence scripter. So far, the scripter is able to generate simple C++ source files, that should compile into working mission dll's.

Recent Maps and Code
Mcshay has made a handful of new missions for Outpost2 multiplayer since the last reunion; they are all available from his web page hosted by OPU here:
http://users.outpostuniverse.net/mcshay/HTML/Maps.html
Bridge Defense: A map made to test his addition to the Greenworld tileset. It is a 4P LoS. Players 1 and 3 are on the same island against Players 2 and 4, making it an ideal 2v2 or 1v1.
Confrontation: Another 2v2 or 1v1 LoS map. A large guard post and lynx AI is between the two teams.
Flood Plain v2: This mission uses the Flood Plain map, however it uses the SmartLava library to create 7 volcanoes. These volcanoes flood most of the map, leaving paths between the 6 pairs of white and orange islands. The lava flow is random within its given path.
The Green World: A world map using the latest greenworld tileset expansion. It is a 6P LR map. There are about two-dozen islands connected by bridges making up the map.
Caught in the Crossfire: It is a 4P survivor map in which all four players are allied against a very angry AI player. They must outrun the blight, fight off the AI, and escape to space, before the world ends!
Forsaken World: This map is a survivor map that has a 4P and 5P version, and takes place on the Axen’s Home map.
Capture The Flag: Players 1, 3, and 5 are against 2, 4, and 6. It is highly customized and complex, Hard to describe it all briefly. You basically capture each other’s flags.
DoomsDay: A rather calm map in which 4 people are placed on one of Dynamix’s unused maps. They can either cooperate or fight. Either way, at mark 666, hoards of meteors bombard their bases, followed by quakes, storms, and vortexes. The last one standing wins.
Swarm: Up to 4 players fight off a swarm of super scorpions. Each player has a basic base at the top of the map to create units and structures. These units and structures are warped to the center, where they fight to protect an allied AI’s spaceport while it launches a starship for them all to escape in.
Mcshay has also has posted some code on the forums to help new coders. All of the available code is on his web page. You can download OP2FF (OP2 function file), which has some basic functions to help with mission coding. You can also download the SmartLava library, which can be used to create random controllable lava flows. The last coding item is an example AI. It will run just like a multiplayer AI should, and does many things you would expect an AI to do.

Forum
We have been doing some archiving on the forum to tidy the place up a bit and move the old topics away from main view. The archived topics can still be viewed by all. If you think any other threads should be archived please message us. Archive available here:

Unused Forum Accounts
It's been a long time since we removed inactive accounts from the forum, and we are planning on doing it again. If you have an account and have not posted then please be sure to post something so your account won't get deleted. We currently have over 600 registered members. Unfortunately not all members are active and most accounts never get used, which confuses many people!

IRC
The IRC download has been updated. Be sure to get it from the website. It also auto-connects to our new server, as we have moved from QuakeNet to our own server: irc.outpostuniverse.net
This boasts lower pings, no annoying netsplits and the server is never full!

Website
If you feel you can help improve the website with more content please contact op2hacker and help us out. We have set up a new system that makes it easier to add to and edit the site. No coding or HTML knowledge is required. For more info please follow this link:

Hamachi
The Hamachi networks have been changed to opu.net / opu.net_1 / opu.net_2 / opu.net_3. If you are online on Hamachi, remember drop onto IRC, there may be more gamers there willing to join a game.
There is also a new bot on the network that automatically drops users who sit in the networks offline, but please remember to leave the network before you close Hamachi.

Frappr Map
Please add your self to our frapper map here: http://www.frappr.com/opu

Age Policy
After much discussion, and for legal reasons, we have decided on a new policy for users under age 13. Anyone who is under the age of 13 may not register for the forums or use IRC, unless the person registering obtains parental permission (giving us proof of consent). We hope this will improve the community for all members and apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused.
