New web based IRC
« on: May 11, 2004, 07:23:28 PM »
I have slaved away all day at this, and gotten a new Java web IRC client to use, available at:

http://312productions.xfir.net/op2/irc

It will take you to a page where you enter your nick and name, and all you have to do is simply press Connect to start chatting. It will take you directly to the server and channel and launch the applet in a new window.

Have fun with it!

I didn't write it, no.

I got it off the net (I did write the frontend to it, where you launch it from)

You may not need to preinstall that plugin, it should autodownload Java if it needs it.

Not really. When I tried to use jave way back it would just take me to a Microsoft site saying that they no longer support java and never will again.

the Java doesn't work here at the school, you guys might think of making a CGI IRC for those who can absolutely not use Java.

Oh we have thought of seting up CGI IRC, and we would have, if we could.

Were simpley not allowed to.

Java client connects to QuakeNet from the persons computer.

CGI IRC conects to QuakeNet from the comp the sccipt is on.

Its not allowed on the datacenter where we are hosted.

Punboy can have CGI IRC on his site because it connects to his IRC server, hosted in same place.
