The single-dome structure could be re-purposed as an observatory for the surface. Some sort of a requirement for some branch of astronomy?

I like that idea.  I hadn't considered entirely new structures with purposes not previously-used.  Hooman,  I also agree about the blue.  Something about the green I like, but Leeor makes a point, especially for those with color-blindness.
