I Rescued Her From A Thrift Store Bargain Bin...
« on: February 20, 2012, 07:05:48 PM »
Sorry I don't get a change to stop by much anymore, folks. I still love you all. Blargy.

Anyway, I was out hunting with a friend yesterday and saw a disc that said "CyberStorm 2" in a bargain bin of completely trash PC games and software. "No," I said, "That can't be..." So I dig through, reach in, pull it out, turn it over and... lo' and behold, a very well-kept copy of Outpost 2, calling my name at the low-low price of 99 cents. Yes, I know it's free to download and yes, I already own a disc copy, but come on, I couldn't say no. I had to rescue her! D:

I trust you, you are crazy.

On the one hand, I see your point, on the other hand, you deprived the rather rare chance that someone might pick it up and actually like it.

I asked the nearby manager how long it had been there and he said quite a long time - seeing as it was at the bottom of a bargain bin of trash PC software and games. I'm planning on giving it to a friend that has never played it before or someone who might be interested. We shall see.

*cries a tear of joy and gives Kayedon a standing ovation for his heroism*

You saved her!

I'd've done the same, for 99 cents you just HAVE to save it!  Though, I'd probably end up sending it off to one of the big youtube people in gaming with a letter asking them to give it a try with a short series :D

GOTTA SAVE EM ALL, OUTPOST2!

like a boss i still got my old cd of op2 somwhere in my house. and i haz the box too that it went in. (i save em all like a blawk).

weird thing to know; i have dreams of playing op2 and guess what; theres more colony missions than ever. WE NEED MORE CONTENT.
who agrees we need to have some sort of new content? i mean... when was the last time sombody made a mission? i might make some new content depending on if flashy sends back a pm and i hope the link he gives wont die off over time like the last two did.

well anyways, i love this game and all you crazy fools :P

btw i also have this game on my school's system hardrive. meaning anyone in the building can play as long as they log into any of the school's PCs. aint that alsome?
its stayed here for about 2 school years now maybe more. lol dey still havent deleted it.

Hit me up on discord, if I am online, you know I'll be gaming.

(Lord Of Pain is no more, I am currently now "Zardox" and have been for awhile on other platforms.)

I doubt they ever will LOP, most school IT people are lazy :P

I'll probably start work on a colony mission once I finish a few other projects I am working on for other things (i'm constantly taking on too many at the same time -.-)

I don't remember who said this, or when, but several years ago on this site I saw someone say something around the lines of:
Quote
My first priority in a fire is to rescue all 12 OP2 disks.

One of the major things that hurts OP2 is the name.  It implies that it is a direct sequal when it's basicly just a re-working of the original concept.  People who played OP1 and hated the ammount of micromanagement will likely pass it up thinking it's more of the same.  People who haven't will likely pass it up because they would rather not jump in without playing the first part of the storyline.

Though, I'll be damned if I can think of a beter name for it.

By now it probably wouldn't matter anyway. Probably less then 10000 people worldwide even remember OP1.

Which still leaves in the other half of the equation.  I personally find it stupid, as I constantly jump into games mid-series (LOVED Divinity 2: Dragon Knight Saga and am looking forward to the third game) but there are a lot of people who want the full story of what has gone before.
