In order to tie these 2 posts together and to avoid the arguing, i figured i'd make a thread devoted to the game itself.

Theres still lots to do but heres a short preview of whats been done so far.

Editor is slowing me down abit, but ive solved all problems so far

Source map now available for those who have starcraft 2.

And dont publish unfinished work.

Making the kits work right was the biggest work around... I have to have an item, a specific convec, and the structure just to make it work.

To do list
Power
Advanced Tube support
Cargo support
Morale/Population engines
Resource management (Common ore, rare ore, food, power, citizens)
Building status
Too much to list

Will be working on....
Importing custom models (got black meshes to import)
Harvesting Common
Power generation/requirements
Food generation

If anyone wants to help that'd be great.

DO NOT SPAM ABOUT PERFORMANCE CRAP IN THIS THREAD.

 :'(  Hoomans gonna be gone for awhile.. That could severely derail my morale and population engines.. o well

Very nice. May I ask what the name of it is going to be? I would think the first step is naming it. I was thinking something like "Outpostarcraft 2", or OPSC2 for short. Idk, just a suggestion. Should we possibly create a forum, wikia and source forged pages for it?

Ya i need a better sub title... i spent all that time buffing out the old letters with clone tool :D

And no.. we dont need much more than this thread.. although i wish it wasnt outpot. Could a mod change it to what i really meant, Outpost

What is up with the name? IS this going to be a OP3 or a Op2 remake into a mod for sc2? If so why name it outpost 3 unless you are going to continue the story some how. If so I would love to see a out line of this story. I only say this because if the story is not feeling like it could have been writen by the op2 team people then it will feel weird.

Also I wonder if you have plans to change the avatars for the units themselves instead of being the sc2 ones.

Ya as soon as i figure that out.

Btw, Unknown quantity is just a place holder, not a real name :D

Its going to be a Mod for Starcraft 2.

i just got an idea for this... after you make all of the op2 units for this why not start taking the units from the "dead" projects and use those...

Mobile CC: Um, what? Convec + CC kit = mobile CC...
Mobile Solar Panel: Again what? Convec + solar panel, not like it requires tube to work or anything, so what is the point of the mobility?
Colonize other planets: Ok, this one I thought of 2. Expanded story line and adds more room and crap. I feel it would add some area to work with.
Artillery Units: Thor's Hammer, Acid Cloud, ESG... hell, even EMP Missile
Air Units: No atmosphere
Water Units: No bodies of water on a planet with no atmosphere
New Weapons: This is very very blunt.

Thou only unit I every wanted added was a train. It kinda seems more practical to use a train to transport goods (from the mine to smelter, or from 1 colony to another) then to get loads of cargo trucks going back and forth....

if your colonizing other planets then you have different atmospheres.
as for water i doesn't have to be water... just some sort of non corrosive liquid

there's always the old cargo train idea from back when we were on WON, lol

For the time, people did some decent photo editing to make the cargo-train pictures.

Iamck in runescape (yes, I still play...sometimes...)

Its not as simple. Mobile units give an advantage when you have to relocate often. No weapon that is in op2 is an artillery weapon. Artillery means to outrange the enemy (among a few other aspects). Artillery does not fit in the game, because it is an inaccurate offensive weapon which can cause collateral damage in enemy bases (and unlike Thor's hammer it cannot be used defensively). Remember that the people on new Terra are mainly there for survival, not for blind warfare.

Also, trains are not in the original game, because they don't make sense in the hostile environment that New Terra is supposed to be (but admittedly rarely is in multiplayer games :D). If you get a disaster warning, you can simply move your trucks away, but not a railroad.

Well, all the Genesis threads contain also the discussion about the ideas. If you are smart, you will know what is acceptable and what is not. We don't have to discuss everything again and again. At least I won't.

I should add, that an idea that is good for Genesis is not necessarily good for this sc2 mod, because the setting is probably different. Also, please don't mix things. Don't make a random game that has random units in it with no sensible explanation.

@Zhall: As for a name why not just use the "unknown quantity" like you used in your logo screen. I guess it doesn't make a ton of sense but it is better than "outpost 3 starcraft 2," IMO.

@ECC: Stay on topic please, I don't think anyone wants to see it turned into some game with a bunch of horrible ideas "just because someone wanted to."

As far as the cargo train idea goes, if I remember right it was less related to something that runs on tracks and more something that could be compared to the equivalent of a semi truck (3 cargo truck beds in a row being pulled by the cargo truck tractor).
