OP2 Mapper Update 1.6
« on: December 15, 2003, 03:27:37 PM »
Well, all you guys have been waiting for an update with more features and bug fixes.

Well, here it is... The features/fixes included are:

- Undo ability

- Scrolling is turned off during loading/saving a map file, to prevent corrupting the data. (Bug found by CK9)

- The Tip of the Day information was not in the initial release. It is now. (CK9, also noticed this)

To download the update:

http://312productions.xfir.net/etc/map_upd16.exe (169 KB)

(You must already have the OP2 Mapper alpha version. To check this start the program, then go to Help > About. The version number should read 1.5.7.)

If you don't have this alpha build go here to download it:

http://312productions.xfir.net/etc/op2mapper_alpha.exe (1,042 KB)

Comment here on any new or other features you want to see in the next update!

(Note, I am still working on editing the DLL commands for units, etc so don't beg)

Yeah.... I dunno, but it has something to do with the tile set.... It *supposedly* has all the tiles, because I used Kev's tile set from his final editor, but I don't really know what's wrong..... If I have time, some day I'll be able to re index all the tiles...

No, those tiles that are blue like that just look that way......it means that the editor's engine couldn't find an entry in the tile database... As far as I know though, it should still save fine and not look that way in OP2.

I know it has to do with the database.... a while ago I ran through all the core tile engine code and it appeared that it couldn't find the tile anywhere.... I ran thru the DB manually with a hex editor and it still wasn't there.

There appears to be less blank tiles. Op2hacker is making it better!

(Well, what else is he doing with every upgrade?)

The Forbidden Outpost 2 Forum ... they don't want you to know about it.

Well, the tiles that don't load correctly should save correctly... If it's not bothersome it will still look fine in OP2. What I believe the reason is the tile index is wrong.. Where the tile is supposed to be "impassible" it was made "passable" and vice versa. (No, I didn't index the tiles..... Someone else (at this forum) did... but I won't say who...)

Someday I will write a program that can scan all the OP2 maps and figure out the correct designation for the tiles.

BTW, in case you didn't know, placing the blue tile WILL change the tile designation, making it appear blue in OP2. It will also make it a "superhighway" tile, which makes units go really fast across it. (It sets the tile to 0C00)

also, Phil, I am adding 1) all the changes that occur in the patches, that it says when you run the patchfile.

2) code to prepare it for adding unit definitions and compiling the DLL's. (This code is not all stubbed out in the menu's and stuff so it's not even ready to run yet, it is incomplete.)
