Hello
« on: August 04, 2009, 02:04:20 AM »
so, i recently dusted off my outpost 2 CD and put it in my new laptop, and realized how much of a great game it was (i didnt really appreciate it when i was 6).  A week later i had beaten everything, and I happened on this site looking for more.  If anyone can give me the links to new colony games/campaigns it would be much appreciated (new being after 1997 :P )

Hi there!  If you download the version we have up on the site (a link under the shoutbox will get you there), it will include the mission packs and enable you to play against others via tcp/ip.

The main change with ours is the removal of the cheats so that noone can ruin the game for anyone else (a good precaution that keeps people playing).  We also have some other projects that are being worked on, such as Renegades (which has part of its campeign available to play currently), that will hopefully bring on new challenge to the fans of this great game.

Now that the more official sounding stuff is over, *hug*  hope you stick around and have some fun with us :)

I've noticed that site goes down from time to time. Maybe post the link you've found?

The download version also has the 3 Sierra released updates applied, which adds a new colony game, and a few more multiplayer maps.

By newer, you mean OP2 1.3.0.5 Beta 2?

It's Extract & Play...

This has nothing to do with programming or "stuff like that" (whatever that means).  Get WinRAR (Google it if you don't have it) and extract the Outpost2 (1.3.0.5 - Beta 2).rar you downloaded to whichever folder you want.  Just don't overwrite an old copy of the game; delete/uninstall those first.

It is quite possible he had never seen a .rar file before, just like I had never heard of a zip-7 file before the other night, lol

Don't double-post.  Use the edit button to amend your last post.
And I don't see the relationship between your age and how much stuff you download.

Some other IP boards have a "+" button on each post for multi-quotting, but I don't know if our version has this available.

i actually would have done it in the first place, but this forum has the quoted material in a separate box, as opposed to just have the quote bars around it (as you see if you go to edit a post here)

If it is of any relevance, I am no older (or any younger) than you are, assuming you were truthful.

And knowing how to use an archive is... basic computer use?

I swear, they should test people's capacity to use a computer before selling them one...

Now, before we go terribly off-topic, is there any more help you require?
