Impact Specific Damage
« on: September 21, 2006, 02:22:50 PM »
Instead of impact style weapons (mic, laser, rail gun, rpg) just having a hit-miss system where if they fire they would either do a specific or randomly calculated range of damage, or not hit at all, I propose that damage be directly related to the angle of impact.

A hit perpendicular to the hull of the vec would do the most damage, but a glancing blow would do significantly less, and all angles in between.

Because Op3 is 3d that may be enhanced even more with angled hulls to lesson and deflect the impact (just like in real tanks)

I just hope they don't explode

I dont think angles would matter much to a laser/mic

Maybe more for projectile weapons? Shoot an RPG and it bounces off their hull because of the angle?

Then again, what if the RPGs are set off by contact or proximity?

And a Rail Gun just tears through the vec I thought? (Correct me if I'm mistaken.)

If a vehicle has a big hole in its armor it really won't matter if it was an "angled hit" or whatever.
