New Mining Beacons Appearing On Former Lava Flows

new mining beacons appearing on former lava flows

Originally proposed by TH300

Related ideas:

- Lava cools down after some time
- Lava Mining

Description:

new mining beacons appear on former lava flows after lava cooled.

This is a good idea, because:

- compensates possible beacon loss through lava.

Hum... If the lava cools down, then the former beacon is still acessible. However, I can't think many reasons of how a lava flow would generate a whole new mining place... Maybe it uncovers some old mining place where the sensors where hindered by something and the lava took away that something?

i doubt this is possible to execute in the game code. lava is hard coded into the game and having the tiles change to another type of land AND change tile code to something nonlethal looks impossible to me. it would be a good idea if we could do it, but i doubt we can in op2. talk to stormy about this and maybe he can work it into genesis?

Note by TH300: the OP3 engine will not be based on OP2

It might be a good idea for gennisis but how would it cool? It dosent have the same temeratre as earth and it might be way hotter. If it is over 700 degrese celcius then it will never cool.

It could generate new mining beacons because lava is full of melted ore. If it cools then the ore dosent just disapear. Its still there.

Lava flows arent going to carry that much materials with them.  the Magma well works because its concentrated.  Over a spread out region where there is a flow your not going to magicly get new ore because the ore is formed under ground not on top.  There is a reason that mines have shafts/pits that go down lol

Why cant the lava fill up a hole or something, heavy ore sinks even if its in a liquid state.

LOL that hole would have to be f***ing HUGE and deep to even produce a mine.  It doesnt work the same way a water fills a lake.
