A couple of us were talking about the various OP2 demoes, and we seem to think there are 3.

OP2 Pre-Release Demo #1: The Alpha Demo
OP2 Pre-Release Demo #2: The Beta Demo.
OP2 Post-Release Demo: Final version in demo form.

I've got both the "#2 demo" and the Post release demo.

The Alpha demo, I don't know if it really exists, but Arklon tells me he used to have it.

It has odd looking GP's and odd looking tubes (which can be seen in this image.).

I have a cd with a demo lying around somewhere.

It contains 2 missions:

1st is with Eden where you have to evacuate your colony from lava I believe.
2nd is with plymouth where you have up to mark 250 to build whatever. (I really wish someone could remove the time limit on that one!!!)

There was a version some beta testers had.

There are two official demos. A single player one and a one which contained 4 player multiplayer. I have these but not the alpha versions we all wanna take a look at :)

Ive talked to someone on irc before who was a beta tester and thinks they may have the version still but there not a regular so they aint been seen in ages so not much help.

I think I have the demo #1 some where, it was on Siera's website a very long time ago before the game was released. you were abble to download sounds and pictures too...
I think it was on the origial release cd of Swat.

If i remember correct then there was a vertion that had no muilti player you could eather be plymoth or eden.

A little off topic, but if the level is ended with a simple victory/failure trigger, it shouldn't be too hard to edit it out. Just need to check for references to either CreateTimeTrigger, or CreateVictory/FailureCondition, and then NOP the instructions.

Yea i remember that mission, u just got a few microwaves gp's and then it ended. Was a good test mission. Played it over and over :)

I had emp's on that mission too, and I'm sure there are more techs aswell.

Just look at all those old pictures of weird looking weapons, maybe they are hidden in that demo.. ?

it was on the website in the late 1996 time, I remember it was hidden very well.
I remeber it well as there was no disaters that were shown only a timer you had to beat.

but it was a very simple map like the first eden mission evacuate your units but the sun moveing was not present if i remmeber correctly.

One thing I did notice is that the images for the light tower for eden was not finished compleately. if the tower was dammaged 2 times the tower compleately disapeared except for the blue active light thingy.

Im lookig for all my relly old burned cd-r's, I had one of the first cd burners ^_^ 1 x.

I think i might have backed it up onto a cd as it took forever to download with my 36.6 k modem

I curently have 2 of several Demos of OP2

April 10, 1997 demo
version: 0.0.0.22

August 27, 1997 demo
version: 1.2.0.6

There is a rumored alpha Demo. I have it some where, although it may be lost. It was downloadable in multiple parts 2 mb each late 1996 early 1997. The one harddrive I knew had it is fried, water damage coroded the bord.

If you have any other date of the OP2 demo tell me!

Moogle get the version info from the in game menu. And were not realy looking for the demo, were looking for the predemo versions, the alpha and beta versions the beta testers got to use.

get the date from the install program when it it ran it tells you the date in one of the first  windows.
the vertion is gotten from the op2 .exe after install

i can only find the 2 demos and not one damn beta or alpha. i spents 5 hours in google looking lol.  I even went on sierra's FTP there is a outpost folder there but there is nothign in it.

OK from what I have found out the Alpha was never released at all just some pictures.  So I highly doubt any one has it.  Any one that says they do is most likely lieing :P unless they put up the proof they do.
