I took a screenshot and tested it. It was EXACTLY the same shade.

It's even MORE then just an optical illusion: your brain is conditioned NOT to believe it. Print it out, show it to a friend, ask him/her what is the darkest/lightest of the 2. Then tell them its the exact same color, and they WILL refuse to believe you! Guaranteed.
(oh, be sure to fold the paper, so you can prove it)

I found ways to block the illusion of the dots in the first link. You look directally at the center dot, and once your eyes adjust properly, they all are white. as for the two squares, yes, it is quite apparent they are the same (I accidentally found that shade of grey before (there are very few that do that) and had fun playing with it in paint)
