If it were a Dell (*cough crap *cough) or some off shelf thing I bet it would cost a good $2500 or $3000. Even those Sony computers cost a lot of money and don't came with anything other then a basic intel GFX card. My old dell that I used to play on WON with only had a 166Mhz pentium (non-mmx) and 32MB of ram and it cost like $1200 when it was new.

I forgot to mention to post what you would pay for the person before you.

mustang09-06 your computer an't bad, but it isn't anything I wouldn't pay more then $550-$700 for.

*edit
Try giving how much time it took to make the thing?
How much you would charge $25per hr for example?
How much effort was put in to more greatly enhance the systems Performance?
Why you decided to build it?
Any good level of overclocking and cooling, etc., etc, etc...

p4 2.8 GHz bus 800 hyper threading
512 DDR pc2100 ram
16z DVD
52x24x52x cd-rw
Nvidea Geforce Fx 5200 ; DVI, VGA and s-video output.
maxtor diamond 9 80Gb 7200rpm l2 cache
350 watt psu (with relativly noisy fan)

the blue advent case
standard crappy speakers
standard mouse (soon to become a wireless optical)
std keyboard.
 17" TFT monitior

onboard lan, 6 usb, 2x firewire (both types), 6 channel sound, modem

The HDD is currently partitioned into four drives: windows, programs = documents, store (for cd iso and music) and one for large torrent downloads (i got 2x 8gb torrents going atm) and the partitions get altered and changed as needed (like when i decide to muck about with linux and when that happens the system goes dual or tri boot)

os's used:
win xp home
fc2
mandrake 10
slackware (some time soon)

office xp - student and teachers
vb
msdn 2003
prodesktop

I need sum help getting a 'silent' psu. i.e. no noisy fan - any pointers would be appreciated greatly. as well as is a watercooled cpu really a good idea?

lol, here's mine (yes, I desperately need to buy myself a new one, probably gonna be in the next few weeks)

P2 333mhz 512kb L2 processor
192 mb PC133 sdram (maybe even slower, but I think its PC133)
STB Riva 128 vid card (yuk)
TBS montego sound card (another yuk)
US Robotics fax/voice winmodem (that I dont use)
Linksys 10/100 ethernet card
8.1 gb western digital caviar hdd (i think)
32x no-name cd-rom
32x10x4 HP 9300+ cd-rw (i hate this drive, it doesn't actually get 32x read)
no-name 3.5" floppy (lol)
WinXP Pro (surprised it runs on this)

my speakers are large Sony speakers connected to a stereo from 1992 (it has no line-in, so I have to connect a car tape adapter (the kind for hooking up discmans to a car without a cd player) to the line-out of the sound card and stick the adapter in the tape slot (without shutting the slot, because it gets stuck and wrecks the cord/player)
I used to use altec lansing (acs-90 i think?) until i moved, then had to use the stereo speakers to save room not having 2 sets of speakers on the desk.

Btw, this is one of those noisy computers with only 2 usb (and they're in the back). it's worth oh probably $50 now (if that) but originally cost $2100. (again, yes, dell is a rip off and I dont intend to buy from them again)

Don't know the exact specs, but mine is a Pentium I with SiS video card and win 98
This thing has been build from scratch by my father with parts of broken computers, so i can't even guess the price, but i'd place my bet in about 6000 here (2000 dollars)

i agree with ck - i've got 98se for years now, and refuse to upgrade. Even the IE 6 has more bugs then 5 had had when it came out (with win98)

Anyway: my pc isn't worth all that much anymore i think..

AMD 1800+
256 MB RAM
1x 40 GB + 1x 80 GB ATA 133 HD's
floppy, 12x10x32 cd drive, simple 8MB AGP

it's just used for programming and stuff, not heavy games (since they don't run on my 8MB card anyway :P)

anyone who wants to give more than $100 for it ? lol

EDIT: oh, for what it's worht - i got a 10Mbit ethernet card in it .. not that it increases the price with more than 50 cents, but hey - gotta be complete right ?

Let's see, how much is a paperweight worth? Something got screwed up on my computer and I need to reload the operating system, but I don't have the disc anymore for it, so I'll have to buy a new one...but I don't use it that often anyways and I have been investing money into buying games for my Xbox and crap like that....so until I buy a new operating system for it, mine isn't worth much.

Lets see..... My computer eh?

Well first of all lets start off with this classic 9500 pro ATI Radeon Video Card.. Wow.. ATI didn't know what they were doing when they made those cards. In fact it was so good that they discontinued it in fear of it lasting their users so long that they wouldn't upgrade to another card in a while.. Well.. Thats right I have 1 of those cards.. They are pretty expensive and are kinda  hard to find a built by ATI one. These cards can easily run for $200 no sweat. Another important part of my computer is my DD400 2x256 Corsair Platinium heat sink with memory timings of 2-2-2-3. There is my chaintech 7NJS Ultra Motherboard which includes a front 5 in 1 port that displays cpu temp has head/mic jacks, 5 in 1 card reader and a fire wire port + and infared port for the included remote.. (which btw I can control my mouse and media player w00t.), Also has north and south bridge cooling.. Last but not least (probably the component that is holding my computer back the most) is my AXP 2400+ , I am def upgrading that to a 3200.

I am not going to even mention the other accesories I have for it : MX510, wireless keyboard, Logitech z-640 surround sound system,  17 inch LCD, Win xp pro, Wireless G, creative headphones, ..........Just look at my sig :-)
Computer current total price = $1500
