New Multiplayer Map *testing*
« on: February 13, 2010, 08:30:10 PM »
LAST UPDATE ON Feb. 15., 2010

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

1. download the attached file
2. find out the place where you installed Outpost2 (you need 1.3.5 Beta2). (you can find that place by right-clicking the op2-shortcut that you use to start op2 and then clicking "properties")
3. go to the place where you installed Outpost2 and extract the contents of the *zip archive into it. (if you don't know how to extract, read this and get one of those)
4. if you did everything right, you'll find two files (mp6th02.map and ml6th02.dll) in your op2 directory.

In case you are wondering:

Its a 6 player 3v3 multiplayer map and should not be played in any different setup. Teams will always be west vs east on the map and top vs bottom in the setup-dialog. Each team has two 'Guards' with bases connected to the middle area of the map. The third player in each team is only directly connected to his/her guards. Ore in bases is somewhat limited (only the players in the middle got rare in their bases), thus expanding towards the middle of the map will likely pay off.

This map is intended to help weak players stay alive longer. If teams are not completely uneven, there's always a strong teammate directly connected to the weak players base, who can help defend that base (the middle player may act as a guard, too).

Almost forgot: Its a LoS map, titled 'Guards'

Update:
Added Day/night and Disasters. Alliances will now be set automatically and the view will be right in the beginning. Also added support for less then 6 players which was previously disabled. The number of players must now be even (4 players = 2v2, 2 players = 1v1). I recommend playing it with 6 players, though.

WARNING: its still in testing stage.[/size]

It's kinda reminiscent of ("Improved") Pie Chart and Allied Siege.

Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing, I dunno....

Edit: Here's the minimap (with base locations highlighted):

I know that some people don't like Pie-style maps. I made one, though, because there are also many who like them. And after all, this map is different. And I'll try to make my next map something completely different.

That is such a great looking map TH300. I really love it, i'll try and see who wants to play it with me.

I really want to play it right away.

Thanks for this great map; i like it becuase it supports the newbie players.

The only thing I'm worried about is that this is clearly designed for 3v3, 2v2, or 1v1.  Is there some safeguard to ensure enemies don't spawn right next to each other?

So that would mean no safeguard, thus rendering the map solely useful for 3v3's, or 3v2s at best.

Spike is basically right, BUT: Notice how he assumes that 6 players join the game.

Since 2 and 4 player-games are also possible, now, I had to take care of base positioning and did just that. It should always be equal numbers in both teams (if not, that is a bug and you are encouraged to tell me about it).

Hence, to give a clear answer to Sirbomber's question:

- There is.
