Like C&C's ion cannon, a satellite you launch in a series of modules. After assembly, it can fire down at the enemy base. Vulnerable to anti-orbital weapons until you launch a countermeasures module for it.

No one is going to want these Mega Ownage weapons from space.  It has come up before and was not wanted.

Yeah, I think there is good reason for not including these weapons. The only similar weapon in OP2 is the EMP missile, and it doesn't do any damage. People already complain about how cheap that one is. You can also build meteor defenses to help defend against these (if you're Eden anyways). But to have a weapon which you can't defend against, and essentially has no counter? Doesn't seem like such a good idea. You'd basically have to nerf it to the point that it was essentially useless anyways. Kinda like how the ion cannon in C&C doesn't normally do enough damage to kill a building (maybe something small, like 1 power plant). Units were also too numerous to make killing one very effective. It seems like they were added as more of a cool factor than something that would really affect game play. Which is the only way to add them in, since super weapons like that which are effective can really destroy the late game play. It's not much fun to simply make it a race to see who gets the super weapon first. You need counters to force strategy on people. Oh, and keep in mind that units aren't normally as numerous in OP2 as they are in C&C. Plus, there are disasters to damage buildings, and a super weapon could be used to clean up on the unlucky player, even if it was nerfed.

I'd be careful Mez is VERY VERY HOSTILE torwards C&C stuff. No offense to him. The best way to counter this wwould be to have a SULV ram the blasted thing.... Or a nice EMP missile could knock out it's orbital stabilizers and cause it to crash into the planet, but still I think it should be used to counter meteor strikes like in
OP V1.5 They had a meteor defense sattilite.... We could use this for that purpose, and we could make the gun to weak to penetrate the planets atmosphere.... Wait a darn second! How are the blasted meteors going to get through the planets atmosphere anyhow!

Ouch.... Uranium meteorites! Natural nuclear bombs my favorite. LOL!
Fire at will!

I think that the mega-cannon can no fit into op3.
The technology by then in the game will be very high, but, WHY would they like a Super-weapon?

I can only imagine the results...

There are some things that don't belong into Outpost3
