Infinite Technology(weapons Part)
Related ideas:
- Technology Create By Usage Over Time Of Stuff (thread is lock)
- Non-deterministic research (thread is lock)

Description:

1st personality opion all game have technolgy to research should always have infinite amount technology to research.

Fairly obvousy I think build sytem for infinite technolgy.  All weapon have max amount can modified it so here perposeded
First come oringnal weapons which you reasearch and what every impovrer to them you deceided
Formulicay beyonh programed technolgy.
-after so many improved weapons then can research new weapon
-new weapon(come nesiray so many improved has do whole new design so thrus new generation) example.

Add on: diminishing returns(thanks white claw point it out)
_____If take notice example cost get more expensive the higher the level go which mean cost more for less technology especially with improvement technology phase but you will get more bang for buck when go in to new generation of the technology.

This is a good idea, because:
-real life we also always research something better

Allowing the player to research infinite technologies makes sense, considering that in real life we also always research something better.

Unfortunately I don't understand much of your post, so here is how I'd do it:
1. have the normal tech-tree which is as big as possible
2. when the normal techtree is completely researched (or when a branch of it is completely researched) enable additional branches. i.e. when everything related to ore is researched one can research "advanced ore processing 1" etc.

We might make it so that the bonus, that additional techs give, decreases with the number.

Sounds good. One problem though, what if some had Thors Hammer V10,000, you could have 1 that would vaporize an entire army.

I feel that this goes a bit too far into micromanagement and all that. After a while, it can begin to feel like Dawn of War's "upgrade" scheme imho....

Hmmm... may i add that this idea wuld be good if:
1. The time to research is a way longer
2. That this is avaliable when you completly research the whole thing about that tech
3. Bigger cost
4. Small increase of strenght

If this too doesn't work, than really, it is a bad idea.

There's also the idea of diminishing returns. I.e. you make the research cost/time take longer and longer with each level, but you start getting back much less in return. Eventually, it would become very expensive to research. Then it's still up to the player if the next level is worth it to him. I see this as creating a specialized army for each player. (Someone would probably spend more research on EMP, while someone spends more research on ESG or RPG... etc...)

Of course, I'm sure that really, everyone would research TH level 10,000 as you suggest. But then again, both sides could do it.

Alpha - So are you saying that you have to create a special production facility that builds the new weapon? (i.e. a factory that builds v2 Microwave turrets)

Do you have to reach improvement Level 10 on something before you can research the next version?

1. Oh forgot factory has be improved with it too work new metals :P. So made little change incorprate it. into my first post.

2. yep that way has wait for time go by to get higher level technology, Another can't keep reseach chain get to new level technoly, your has by natural of use things for whil to get to it. Though strees next version redesign technology from square after do quick improvement.

I think a huge tech tree would be cool. But you have to research in small amounts. Like updates to techs.

This way, one could make it seem like you were really controlling the colony, with scientists approaching you with their hypothesises.

also, you could make the basic lab unobsolete by having it do most of the update research

Yea well impovement part come from use of that technolnolgy over time so can't go research hog while with technology has wait until come arcoss or realise theres flaw or adjusment need which to me is important since real life improvemnt are found after use stuff.

This kindy prefer semi random times so can't think on this tick get availiability.  There should minimum time but maximum for it appear should huge.

Now geting it, but can done all building and vehicle after usage for prolong usuage or special action that being proform like bulldozwn, tub making building constructution, fire a weapon, move to place , etc.

Random Numbers? My specialty! I used to make probability games on my calc and in programming class.
