It wouldn't be; op2extra.dll used to be included standard in the fan patch but it's obsolete now.  Certain older missions still rely on it (with some missions expecting certain versions) so each mission has the version it expects included in its custom maps folder that gets installed to your PC.  So in the case of Forsaken World, you'd want to look in (your Outpost 2 installation directory)\OPU\maps\ForsakenWorld and you should find a copy of op2extra.dll there that will (hopefully) work.

I don't remember having this problem in the Original game...


After landing everything and clearing space around the command site, I built a smelter, and use Communication towers to reach a mine site and built a mine. But my common metals never increased and the smelter never did any processing. The mine states that 1 truck was being used, but in the corner was a box that states "NOT IMPLEMENTED"

So, at this point I can't do very much because my colony dies because I can't build anything other than the Smelter and some tubes.


Help would be appreciated.

News / Game Day Revival

Hi everyone!  We all have busy lives, making it harder to organize games these days.  To that end we're excited to announce, starting 11/30/2022, OPU will be hosting official Game Days!  The plan is to have them every Wednesday, starting at 8:00 PM Eastern (that's 5:00 PM Pacific, 1:00 AM GMT).  We recognize that people are spread out all over the globe and the time we've chosen may not be convenient for everyone; we'll keep an eye on things and may adjust the day and time based on turnout and player availability.  For now though, we're excited to see more games of OP2 being played!  Hope to see you all there!


FAQ

1) Why do we need to schedule a game night?
We're all a lot busier than we used to be, and it's a lot harder to get a "pick-up" game going now.  By having a specific time set aside, the hope is that people can plan around it and make time to keep this hidden gem of a game alive!

2) Why Wednesday night?
There's been a lot of discussion about having scheduled game days for a long time now, but the question of when to hold them has always been a roadblock.  I took an informal poll and 100% of respondents said "sure, maybe?" so Wednesday it is.

3) What maps and game types are we playing?
Whatever you want!  1v1s, team games, old-school Pie Chart meatgrinders, co-op maps, there's no wrong choice!

4) Are there any special rules for these games?
Just the usual: respect the build/attack mark if one has been set, no cheats/hacks/trainers/etc., and keep it civil!  A little in-game trash talk is okay, but don't get personal.

5) What if I've never played multiplayer?
Then ask for help!  There are plenty of people who would be happy to share their wisdom with you.  And, if you're just not interested in the idea of competitive multiplayer, there are always cooperative experiences!

First off, welcome and glad to have you with us.  Feel free to hop into our Discord channel if you're so inclined.
To answer to your question, get a copy of op2extra.dll (maps/ForsakenWorld has one that may work) and copy it into the folder you've put the rest of the mission files into.  A word of warning though, if a custom mission wasn't included in the community patch, it's probably either buggy and unplayable, or of low quality and not fun to play.

Hi OP2 fans,

I recently got back into OP2 - still one of my favourite games ever - and spent some time on these forums to see if there are any colony games/other SP scenarios I haven't tried. Came across Outcasters Starship, which I downloaded from post #1 here: https://forum.outpost2.net/index.php/topic,5014.0.html

Unfortunately, the scenario (after insertion in the OP2 directory) will not start up. First error message is "missing op2extra.dll", second one "could not initialize". I'm running OPU 1.4.1 on the GOG version, with mostly German audio and text transferred from my original CD when re-installing.

Any idea how I can get the scenario to work? I downloaded the most recent op2ext.dll from Github, renamed it "op2extra.dll" (I'm guessing it's the same as op2ext.dll anyway), which fixed the first error message but not the second one.

Thanks so much again to all you folks who put the work in to create this community content, I was stunned to see OPU 1.4.1 when first starting up and love the main menu's art, let alone the rest of the game.

Pressing Alt+Enter typically forces an application into fullscreen mode.  Try that and see what you get!
You may also want to try out Outpost HD, the community remake of Outpost 1.  It's still a work in progress but it's coming along very nicely.

Hello all! I'm sure this has been covered somewhere here, I'm just unable to find it. So, here goes.

I'm running the version of Outpost 1.5 that I d/loaded here years ago. I've had a few laptops that have gone by the wayside since.
I have zero problems running that version in Windows-10. My silly-assed problem is that the app starts out small, I mean really
fracking tiny, maybe a quarter of the size of the screen. I know that there's a duck-soup simple fix but, I'm 65 and starting to forget
things. I still love playing Outpost. Have enjoyed it for years and I want to be able ti continue enjoying it for years to come.

Nuff said.
