I heard about the Mini-ITX By somebody on here. Since they seem quite cheap, and quite compact, both huge pluses in what im looking for, I was wondering if somebody can help me with a few things. Especially from the people who are far more computer literate than I am (I am computer literate yes, but not extremely computer-literate, I only know the basics).
1: Does this motherboard, the VIA EPIA MII 12000 1.2Ghz Motherboard, Support Serial ATA?
2: What are the specs of the Motherboard, the exacts of everything? I did get a few specs from the website, but it appears theres no place you can find a clear spec list of everything.
3: Personal and professional opinions on these. I am planning this for use of a Data storage system, using a Serial ATA 250 GB Harddrive for 200 USD. A Compact system, extremely long-lasting parts, and cheapness are my main focous points.

Guess I should email them and ask them to put Serial ATA on their next motherboard.
I may get it regardless of that problem, Could get a Serial ATA PCI Card, since a 300 GB 5200 speed IDE Western Digital costs about 280, wheras a 250 GB 7200 Speed Serial ATA Harddrive by the same company costs only 220 Dollars. Therefore, the Serial ATA Harddrive is more economical. Even with 50 GB Less, it is not a huge chunk of data storage.

It was me :P.
I heard on the Via site that there are ITX mobo's with SATA. If you can't find one you could always buy a PCI riser and use a SATA Controller or use a conversion cable that converts IDE to SATA.

Actually, I'd prefer the Serial ATA for Western Digital's 10,000rpm Raptor Drives. I've heard great things about those...super fast, I want to get my hands on one.
They're "small" in comparison, with only two sizes at the moment - 36 GB and 74 GB options. The small one runs around 120 USD and the larger around 210 USD. Installs Windows XP Pro in 10-12 minutes, or so I'm told.

a small comp, 2 use on TV, to watch tv eps, movies etc, and play op2 on tv etc. i do all this anyway but a small comp just for it would be better.

Well you could get a mini itx with a pci slot and then buy a pci tv in card because alot of the mini itx have a s video or a RCA connector on them or you could find one with a AGP and go for a ATI RADEON All IN WONDER card. just finding the case that will work for ya.

yea thats wut a plan 2 do.. tho prolly get one with AGP so i can put a better card on it.

no mobos have agp in the mini-itx form-factor. they really don't need one because they arn't designed for gaming and they have pci all in wonders that'll work just fine. or u could get a tv tuner with hardware encodeing and use the built in video

The one in the picture in my post has a PCI express that would suport a kick ass vid card like a X800 all in wonder. Yes there are Mini ITX boards with AGP they just havent come into production.
