Pit is one of two percussion sub-sections during marching season. There is battery, which consists of bass drums, snare drums, and quads/quints
Pit is everything else

i wanted to be a percusionist. but instead im in colorguard. hehe. it sucks. but its fun. hehe

My Freshman year percussion section got disqualified at a tournament because our section leader decided to have us all throw our sticks/mallets on the ground (every year freshmen are stuck on the bass drums, I was on the second heaviest. Almost passed out a couple of times)

nice. that would be soo cool if we had a competition drum squad. that would be awesome

lol, even a school with a band of 15 who was at our competition this last year had some drummers

k this is gonna be long
we have about 100-150 ppl in band
our director dosent want a drumline because most of the squad is seniors and are graduating. and plus its to much work. he dosnet want a competition band be cause its too much work, he dosent want anything because its too much work.
BUT we used to have a Stage band. haha. but it was too much work. so no we are just concert band and marching band. hehe
k mabey not as long as i thought

My band director (he looks like a walking ice-cream cone IMHO) gets mad at us for being lazy

lol, I can top that, ours tosses the percussion 'toys' at us and expects us to catch them (almost dropped the windchimes the last time)

I like to freak out a freshman in the drum section. I walk around without any emotion showing on my face, so people get paranoid when I walk towards them and they know I'm annoyed with something, lol
It can be fun around here.

cool. no you no whats funny. k. you and a friend have flags and your walking around, then all the sudden you start beating each other with them, suddenly stop and start walking again. people think your freaks. haha. dont ask.

I think a drummer could easilly do the job of the color gaurd, especially when we are always twirling the sticks, lol

NOOOOOOOO. colorguard are flag, majorettes are battons. TOTALLY DIFFRENT.

oh, those are drum majors here (almost never a drummer, though)

which one, the baton. yeah. our majoretts have itty bitty outfits. and twirl batons in front of the band. our band is soo good that people actually go up to us and tell us that we are the reason they go to the game. hehehe
