Im pretty well versed in 3dsmax but dont have any knowlege about gmax...

Im guessing they're pretty different as gmax is primarily a level/character creation tool for games...

nope, they're almost the same thing... You can create animation in Gmax. (it's like a scaled down 3dsmax, they even look similar)

Zircon can teach you better than I could.

gmax® is Discreet's free game development level editor based on the world's best selling 3D animation platform, 3ds max™. Game companies can extend the life of a game by creating and distributing gmax "game packs", which allow game players to create, customize, and trade game content online. It has a subset of features from 3ds max 4, including Polygon & Patch Modeling, as well as texturing and character building tools. You cannot render with, or write plug-ins for the free version of gmax.

-------------------------------------

It seems you cannot render with the free version...

Also by animations they could mean character movement etc etc, not actual movie sequences... For use in games...

But as said i dont know much about it...

As for teaching someone how to model... It's mostly try and learn and then try again to get better results... That's atleast how i do it...

Remember that old conestoga model, it2000 said it looked like a messed up screw  :heh:

I'll go look for it....

Edit: I found it  :P Really deep in the library, As can be seen it isn't pretty...
But things have progressed, dont you think...

hehe, to think i thought someone would like to steal that thing  :heh: *sob*

The moral of the story: Things look like crap when you start out but can end up good with a few years of practice...
