With the help of Hacker, some forums, and my own experience, I have learned quite a bit about putting text on top of images in PHP. So I present to you, my IRC Userbar, that shows the last line said on my IRC Channel. (In sig...).

Got any other ideas / comments whatever? I'm open :)

It's impossible because OPU doesn't have logs I can work with. Afaik anyways.

zigzagjoe used to have one and alot of people liked it because it it updated about every 15 mins and they would see some thing interesting or some one on.  of course he had access to the bot and the server at that point so the logs were avaliable. the only thing you could do is stay signed in to opu main chan and use your own logs. i dont suggest you use a bot you might get shot in the face.

I don't plan on making on for OPU. If somebody wants to have one I will more than happily share source code.

It would be nice if we had a plugin that allowed us to see who is on IRC from the forum.  If I'm thinking correctly, there might be a way to do that directly from the server, but I don't know for sure.

I don't have a good memory about what has been said when I'm thinking about other things.

What end of it is the hard one?  Getting the info from the server, or putting it to the forum?

Seems pretty simple to me, whoever says it can't be implemented is just a lazy ass coder :P

if it's the forum end, there are coding limitations built into IPB.  If it's server end, it means it takes up significant bandwidth and would be unfair to Galactic

Bandwidth would be so little you wouldn't notice it, and IPB doesn't have limitations? What the hell are you talking about??? You can slap in whatever the heck you want into IPB and it works :o


Okay maybe you can't ajax the forum or something but with enough effort you probably could.

No no, you really can. It's just a matter of how hard you slap.</joke>

If you want to know who's online, I could have my irssi client ping a PHP script with the list or something. -shrug- or provide a web service.

Why would we want to do this?
