Title: Why Did The Starship Bother To Leave Sol?

So anyway, I noticed that every planet you can go to is identical to a planet in our own star system...

So, why travel 50+ lightyears to plant a colony on a mars-like planet, when you got a mars-like planet, well, errr... mars... allready?

They said something about other meteors retailed to Vulcan's Hammer endangering colonies in the inner solar system for a few years.
