I say combo, have gps with the pattern emp, esg, rpg behind a wall, and than have that same pattern of vecs to reinforce that wall

if you are eden do emp thor gp, behind walls, and for vecs build them with this pattern 2 thors to 1 emp

try to put the walls in a v pattern in a narrow area, forcing the enemy to go into a increasingly defended area, and than after that have it go into a single tile pathway with gp and units on each side, have that for about 10 tiles, than it would open into a area surounded by gp, causing a huge bottle neck, and by than that force would be destroyd

if you are eden, and your oponent is ply with missles, space metior defence about a screen apart, so that he cant knock out your defence if he sends in a missle, and even if it does get through, always have a backup of lynx to send in the instant your tigors get empd

and always keep your wall and gp in good repair, its useless if you have big gaping holes in your defence

Well, for me it is turning on rapid fire, three EMP lynxes, and two Laser lynxes.

I beg to differ, I use my cheats stratgically.

should you be really be telling everyone that you use cheats? wouldnt it be better if they were a secret?

My defensive strategy is to find really high cliffs and build my colony upon them with the GP's of the farthest range gaurding the edges, and  30-tile thick walls where there is no cliff backed-up with RPG and EMP Tigers.
Title: Best Defensive Strategy
Post by: Betaray on October 09, 2003, 09:50:20 PM
of corse that is useless if that cliff dosnt have a common and rare mining site
Title: Best Defensive Strategy
Post by: CK9 on October 10, 2003, 09:02:37 AM
When that is the case I extend the wall to be around the nearest one and tripple my forces if I can.
Title: Best Defensive Strategy
Post by: Betaray on October 10, 2003, 02:20:58 PM
but if you extend your forces too long, your defence would suffer
Title: Best Defensive Strategy
Post by: CK9 on October 10, 2003, 03:10:42 PM
that's why I also increase the wall thickness, set patrol routs, up GP layers, and increase my patrols twofold

yes, but if you spread yoru ofrces out too thin still, a large attk comming from 1 frount would likely break the line, and if it dosnt, you would probly send your partol units to help reinforce your battle, leaving holes in your defence for a small rading party, of supernovas and some escorts to come in and kill you

I forgot to mention one thing, I constatnly build more foreces and send them to join.
Title: Best Defensive Strategy
Post by: Betaray on October 10, 2003, 10:13:24 PM
still a consentrated army vs a spread out army, even if they are the same number of units, but, go with what works

Beta, if you have your layout right, you will have many large forces patrolling small areas and long range GP's backing them up.

wut i usealy do is have my main army of lynx at the front of my base, ill put up a sticky gp at the entrance also, and mayb 1 emp gp also. at the back of my base ill put a few stickys and esgs. this is my defence in the build up time of the game, where people are expanding and researching etc.

at the start of the game the 1st unit i will get is a sticky and ill use that 2 slow down n e lynx's incoming. ill build up lynx's once i have all my trucks built. ill build up a lynx army and may b a few more sticky;s and that will b my defence. i wont put n e units at the back of my base bcuz if i c a back attack coming ill just build some stickys and send em off back 2 slow the attack down. while that happens ill move in some lynx 2 the back of the base.

(i am mainly talkin about pie, only 2 place's 2 defend)

Best Eden Defensive Strategy:

EMP Guard Posts and Thor's Hammer Lynxes, with a few Lasers

Best Plymouth Defensive Startegy:

EMP Guard Posts and Lynx, Use Spiders to get two or three vehicles, destroy the rest with SuperNova

Go for speed with defense, you can get around faster

If I ever cheat in multi, I always give warning, such as: I'm going to test out my trainer now. I've only done it once.

I have never cheated in multy, and I cant even cheat in single anymore, because my computer died, and it would be hard to try to install and play op2 in the short amounts of time me dad is gone

Cheating is fun in singleplayer... as long as you don't cheat too often, as it can take the fun out of the game. A friend of mine said a while back that "cheating is for those who can't strategize, or just want to try something new. Whichever excuse works for you."

I only cheated in multy once.  I felt so bad about it I told the person and let them destroy my GP before I retaliated.

Me and my best friend use "Dan's metal cheat" in multi, so that we can speed the game up, and it helps when a disaster blows up your mine.

Maybe they are, but he beat me every time, of the 15 games we played.

I'd play against Paco with teams if Falcon and Lev were on my team.  I'd work on the defensive while they work on the offensive.  I think I do good work on the entrances I make.  now if only the map I made could be played

I remember Paco...
*shrugs* he would need a rewrite of his social skills/common sense...
Not that i have good social skills but he was scary

Perhaps all he said at that time was true but he certainly explained it in the wrong way... (if you dont know what im talking about all you need to know is that it's old forum chatter, veterans only :heh: (jk))

It looks like this hasn't been a topic about defense for a while....

I like to build 5 layer walls and put guard posts in the only path into my base.  Patrolling starflares are also good.

i should just use my wall strategy i use in empire earth. Two layers of wall on each side with gard posts in between.
