This is a short (by which I mean looong) essay that I just finished writing on Savants, the blight, and the thing they ended up forming.
I start out by analyzing exactly what I see each entity as being, and then analyzing how they joined together. I ended by taking my analyses and using them to try to address a few misconceptions that I feel I have heard around these forums.
I wrote this essay mostly for me, as a way of mapping out and solidifying what I understood of the topic, but I thought it might also be of interest to the community, as I think it provides a decent synthesis of the conclusions and theories that people draw from the game and novellas.
It is not a finished work by any means. Feel free to rip it apart, challenge things, etc.
I will probably revise it in the future based on any evidence or arguments towards this version, assuming I can overcome my innate laziness long enough to do it.
Also, please excuse the little bit of roughness. I should probably revise it a few more times, but see my above point about laziness. :P
