Title: Venus Of Op V1.5
Post by: Combine Crusier on March 22, 2007, 05:55:36 PM
Hey you said it was going to be Venus like so here is OP V1.5's idea of Venus.
Let me know if you want to see the other planetary details.

VENUS
Equatorial diameter (Earth = 1) 0.95
In kilometers 12,104
Mass (Earth = 1) 0.815
Rotation period 243 days, retrograde
Surface gravity (Earth = 1) 0.91
Mean distance (in astronomical units, or AU) from Sun (Earth = 1) 0.723
Solar energy received (Earth = 1) 2.2
Approximate mean temperature (Centigrade) 450 (surface), -23 (clouds)
Principal atmospheric gases Carbon dioxide, nitrogen
Escape velocity (kilometers per second) 10.36

Thiese are for Venus I don't know what you'll have yours be but these are the basic statistics for a venus like planet..... Boy is it hot!

I think it's going to be "Venus like" but not exactly the same. I think there's going to be a bit less dense atmosphere and a bit further from the star so that it's not quite as hot. Also, the less dense atmosphere will keep the colony from being crushed under the 90 atmospheres of pressure found on Venus.

It needs to cool down a lot or the colony WILL MELT! lol

the buildings would have to be built with the armor from nuclear submarines even if the atmosphere is less dense.  Even at 50%.

The Composition of the atmosphere is also at question because if it indeed has some sort of Acid droplets in it the cooler the plant is the less likely they are to be air born or they would be constantly raining down which would be very bad for a colony.

I aggree. But to have all that armor on the stuructures and vechs, it would be like a scout with ultra, mega, super, maximum high armor. It would take an army of thors hammer tigers to stop one from going pass a defense point.

IMPORTANT NOTICE!

This post isn't saying what planet Bob is going to be like it's saying what Venus is like so you can get a General idea of how you are going to change it.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

LOOK at our posts we are saying that even venus like plants would be unalbe to support a colony.

Venus like planets don't have to have the same atmosphere just the same sizeand gravity.

Ya think read my post again i went into Atmosphereic composition.

As for gravity you can have a heavy grav world it would be to hard on the body.  There are not anti gravity hull plating.  The atmsphere and the gravity could also make the planet very nasty as well.  Thicker it is the more pressure and Thinner less pressure but this is directly related to gravity.

IDEA
Minor modifications to make planet more habitable

BOB V 0.1 Alpha
Equatorial diameter (Earth = 1) 0.95
In kilometers 12,104
Mass (Earth = 1) 0.815
Rotation period 243 days, retrograde
Surface gravity (Earth = 1) 0.91
Mean distance (in astronomical units, or AU) from Sun (Earth = 1) 0.923
Solar energy received (Earth = 1) 1.14
Approximate mean temperature (Centigrade) 325  (surface), -29 (clouds)
Principal atmospheric gases Carbon dioxide, nitrogen
Escape velocity (kilometers per second) 10.36

No idea on escape velocity.
Tempature based on my own calculations.

Oh my!

Found this site that gives details on areas that might have habitable planets!

http://www.solstation.com/habitable.htm (http://www.solstation.com/habitable.htm)

Hope you enjoy the site!

I found this list of star systems that are considered canidates for habitable planets... Perhaps one of these star systems could be called the one that has New Terra and or Cythera in it. Quit I find this information quite interesting.
