Just because you don't get an instant reply, doesn't mean you can chat with people online.
You usually have to hang around a bit before someone answers, or is availible for a game :op2:

Yeah, do wait in IRC and someone will eventually come. The best time to show up is probably between 7-12 pm Eastern time. (Most people are on at that time).
Btw, screaming in caps or typing people's names repeatedly is going to decrease your chances that you will get help. Just to make sure you're aware.
